I watch people. Especially at the lunch counter. Not the lying fools, they're always the same. It's the people sitting there listening to the lie that I watch for. Fascinating to watch. They go from being cordial, to a puzzled look, to highly irritated. One day, I shall time it to see how long it takes for the average person to realize that they're being lied to.

    I know Six.....

They're just seeking someone to talk to, You can tell right away after the first paragraph of their stories.....

All the Hours of having no-one to converse with brings out the heavy Fiction.

Yeah,Its irritating- BUT,I'd Rather Listen to some of Them.......Than Witness these Guys that have ZERO personality. Wont Talk at all,Wont develop any king of freindships on the Road-ETC.....Getting their dinner "to go" looking like their getting ready for some beach volleyball.

I tell ya this- Some of those guys that are vocal at the truckstop counter-Wiould give you the shirts off their back,If your Needing assistance.

The Bluetooth guys that have their Noses in the Clouds Will watch you Suffer,They Don't know any better, because they Don't know how things go.So I wont fault them.

I don't know about that. Milk is usually disposed of as waste from the trailer after a fixed number of hours from pick up at the farm. I think it was 16 hours. Usually are at the dairy, in line to unload and sanitize within 4 hours of the first pickup farm.

As far as the OP, I'll just be there early. If they don't want the load, back to the shipper it goes once dispatch finds out about it. Either way it's going to be disposed of. Preferably at that customer today on arrival.

Ive always had a burr under my saddle for appointment times imposed on freight that needs a month to sell out at the dollar store or something. If the receiver is truly horrible, I'll stage some sort of carefully crafted problem so they will tell my company don't send so and so back here. And thus I never see them again. Years later I end up back at three of those places, two remembered who I was. Water under the bridge. No problems.

I am very familiar with many of us showing up on say Monday morning to unload when they get to you sometime. And its usually empty by Monday late. Or in time to get out of NYC by rush hour. If I arrived a day early? They will take that too if possible. None of that appt based bs from trucking within I say 1998 onwards.

I've seen milk sit around 48 hours waiting for the plant to be fixed and unload.

    "Heavy Fiction." I like that!

I tell newer guys in my line of work to be cordial. To meet people. To get out of the truck and talk to the other drivers. WHY? Because in OSOW, the only person on planet earth that can even began to help you is the driver that was there before you. And the guys on top all know each other. On the big jobs with the big loads, you will have drivers from various companies working together for a certain time period. So get out of your truck, introduce yourself. When they all go eat, go with them and eat with them. Create your network. That way, when you need a parking spot for a superload, they will tell you where to go.

You can't let your emotions control you. Obviously you get the urge to beat their head in but what good does that do? Your truck is still smashed up and you are sitting in jail.

When I was a young man chasing those miles I used to hammer down all the time. As the years have gone by, I've cut back to maybe 2-3 mph below the posted limit. Less passing, getting boxed in, and I usually always maintain that proper 7-second safety cushion.

On that note, companies preach SAFETY all the livelong day but then push you to drive East Bound and Down to get the load there on time. It all started with that whole JIT stuff back in the 80's and now Amazon moving to 1-day shipping. What's next? Press the order button on your computer screen, the doorbell rings, and Mr. UPS robot standing on your doorstep with stuff in hand? "Our artificial intelligent whiz-bang super computer predicted that you would order your toilet paper at precisely 2pm EST, have a nice day sir!"

This world's moving too #### fast for me.

    Agreed

The Just in Time Was how I got started- Less Traffic then- But still stressful- Live Load in Cicero,Il at 4pm and Dispatch says You better be in Mechanicsburg,PA tomorrow Morning..Just so I could get a small advance for the road. Oh Yeah,Young,Starting out- Logistics warehouses were few.

JIT was Good and Bad for different reasons........Young Drivers Today Have it Made,.Show up at those 100 dock logistic houses and drop and hook- Too Easy.
