So I put stock antennas on and hung rubber strap off of driver side step and passenger side step, only drove 5 miles to get to receiver, but didnt hear the rolling static, so we will see on a longer trip, the stock antennas seem to receive really good, heard alot skip out of Cali, and when that died down heard alot of local chatter around Ogden UT here.

Well, at least it went away, but the problem is now we don't know if it was the straps or antenna, but I follow the theory of ground straps not being made of rubber so I'm betting it's the antenna.rabbiporkchop and wolverine11 Thank this.

"GOLDENROD 45" 11 METERS CB OMNI MOBILE ANTENNA 12,000 WATTS BROADBAND | eBay
what your thoughts on this?
I seen that antenna you made that had a top hat similar to that. Not an antenna designer here i just see capacitance -
It's a good antenna. Not sure I would recommend it for a big truck.
It's very rigid. It's 3/8" stainless. -
Can’t remember. Are the mirror arms and U/L door hinges bonded?
-
I wonder how much that Goldenrod with the figure-8 top hat dances in the wind at 70 mph.

I own one. Not much. But it needs a tie-off

QuietStorm and wolverine11 Thank this. -
I like them regarding the aspect of preformance, but I gave up on them because they break so easily.
The wire tends to break at the base near the stud. the las one I bought broke after 3 weeks of use, granted it was used off road and was put to the test, but thats way too quick. I don't trust them anymore.
Maybe thier new "flexible" fiberglass antennas are better, I know K-40 made one that took a beating, but Wilson is now "Road Pro". no thanks.QuietStorm and Diesel Dave Thank this.
