You are correct, its the first I'm hearing of it tbh..
I am waiting to see the paperwork, not sure if we have been fined for anything yet, but I attached a file for possible amounts

Here is what the FMCSA says about Personal Conveyance..
Personal Conveyance
Hard for anyone here to make a judgement about your drivers PC use not knowing the exact details.Proxy Thanks this. -
DOT officer's are at the bottom on the ranks for police. Most all of them are new and not well educated in trucking. There just a step above meter maids as Jiffy lube police. Police officers do not want a career doing DOT inspections. They want to become sargents, lieutenant, sherriff or Chife
Your best defense is carrying that little green book and maybe order that DOT inspections book with the picturesProxy Thanks this. -
Not in NY if it’s a Trooper you are getting just that a trained New York State Trooper. Not saying they don’t make mistakes but they aren’t some hack local cop playing big boy. Watch your step with NYSP they don’t play games. Our governor has run the state into the ground and is looking for any source of income he can find.
Dot the I’s and cross the T’s they are really picky now a days, or better yet just avoid NY. -
Thanks. I gave up going back to NY back in 2012.Tall Mike Thanks this.

That’s how we were. We were trained a ton more than Deputies and city cops.brian991219 and Tall Mike Thank this.

If he had driving time, why was he using PC?
Also what was he doing? Was he going to the movies from a truck stop, or was he going to a parts store to pick up parts for the tractor or what?
Without knowing what he was doing it's hard to say if the officer was wrong or not.Proxy and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
First of all let me put out my disclaimer.
*I'm not on ELD so I have no first hand knowledge*
I thought (and heard) personal conveyance varies from state to state ?
Basically what I heard was some states recognize PC and others do not.
True or false ?Proxy Thanks this. -
Not sure exactly what he was doing but it was after his last stop and would not have exceeded the 11h driving time or the 14h cycle as the DOT claimed he would have, not even close. In any event the driver nor the inspector could prove what he was or wasn't doing while on pc. But lets say it was an hour or two after his 14h shift ended and decided to drive to get some food, would it have turned out the same way? it seems it would have.

This is what the general consensus seems to be. In my opinion all duty status's and regulations should be regulated at the federal level since each state doesn't reserve the right to "opt out" of the ELD's but are allowed to vary regarding something so widely debated as personal conveyance.Tall Mike Thanks this.
