Yeah, that's the problem in the bay area. Even when it's not rush hour, there is an accident, or construction, or a dead bird on the road that everybody needs to slow down and look at.jammer910Z Thanks this.

Ahh, heck, just rent a house in Los Banos and commute! LOL
DTP Thanks this. -
Lived in los Banos for a few years. Back when housing was cheap. Was running a straight truck delivering sheetmetal building supplies. Then it was a 3 hour commute into the South Bay. Lots of miles and fuel on 152 and others.
If you like to eat, in Los Banos is a place called Wool Growers. It is a basque place, food is served family style. If you leave hungry, it’s you own fault. Price is very reasonable.Badgerboy and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Give a try to the LTL players such as old dominion, estes, saia and oak harbor.
Good luck.Badgerboy Thanks this. -
Built our first house in Los Banos in 1982 at the Racquet Club. I know all about Los Banos

Not super familiar with Contra Costa county, but I rent out my grandmother's old house in Santa Clara county and I can tell you $31/hr is nothing in that area. Basically plan on being a kept man.
Badgerboy Thanks this. -
What you both may “think” is a great job may not be so given very high costs in California. And nothing given in return.
Have an exit plan.

Median home price in Walnut Creek is around $875,000.
Badgerboy Thanks this. -
That would be a 30+ year old fixer for that price.
