1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

i have tried schneider due to the fact that they were posting on career builder but the recruiters say theyre not hiring in reno, and that is without them even looking at my application, and for the record i am not a job hopper i enjoyed my job at conway and schneider as i said before i was laid off because i was in the bottom 5 when it came to seniority, i quit schneider because i could not afford to pay for my own motel and also my rent and other bills because i was told i may not be reimbursed, save mart was just to supplement my income until i could find a driving job, but i guess the reasons dont really matter on paper, i will try the reno gazette journal even though i have been told that all the jobs in rgj are the same jobs on career builder, and thank you for the responses by the way.

What about Conway truckload ??? They've been hiring regular.

Did they not offer you a job in that division, prior to laying you off?

Or was that where you were?

Excuse my paranoia...I just find this thread highly suspect.

I can't believe Schneider would do that. I'm 23 with 10 months and had no trouble finding a job. Had 4 companies call me in the last week. Could have had one sooner but I took a month for a long needed vacation. But it like everyone else is saying, with your back ground, that doesn't look good at all and your location is a big issue also. Hate to say it but it's gonna be tough for you bubba unless you move to the east side where freight is because you aren't in or close to a major freight lane. That work history is gonna hurt but moving closer to the east side of the country would up your chances a bit but companies don't like job hopper's. No pun intended. Wish ya the best of luck.

conway truckload doesn't consider my time with conway otr experience so they cant hire me, what is so suspicious about this thread?? just another guy looking for work, the fact that your 23 has probably helped ive actually been talking to knight but i have to wait til june 16 because thats my 23rd birthday, so hopefully they'll still have jobs by then, and like i said before im not a job hopper try reading my other post before you try and say that.

What makes it suspicious ? Maybe the fact that Schneider has over 1000 sleeper cabs sitting empty. Sounds like they wanted you gone...I dunno.

Or, the fact that while Conway truckload may not have considered your experience OTR, they could/would have second seated you for a while. Or would have in the past....Again, it sounds like they wanted you gone.

While you may perceive this as a slight against you personally. It's the lack of information, and the knowledge of those companies, that make it suspect.

Companies use bottom feeder tactics for 2 reasons only. They are bottom feeders, or they simply want to force a driver to leave. Which makes them bottom feeders anyway.

wow ok let me explain, when i left schneider it was march of 08 at this time they didn't have enough trucks to go around, especially since reno got all of its trucks from french camp, the gm account had just been taken over by yrc so things were all screwy and consider the lack of management and there ya go reno didnt have any sleepers to give me, i was one of the only drivers that couldnt be hired on by yrc because im not 23 so no they didnt "want me gone" they lost there account.

And as for conway they laid off 5 to 7 people at my terminal due to how slow it was and i can guarantee you none of the others were able to hire on to conway truckload, if you find me suspicious go ahead and give schneider a call and tell them your an experienced driver from reno nv, actually ill call them again tomorrow and tell you what they say.

BTW, there is a reason they put the instructions on the bottom of the boot.

So there is no need for that...I get the picture now. Unable to follow instructions.

Taking the time to actually KNOW what is going on, before you act or open your mouth. Will actually help you keep a job in the future.

    Good luck with that problem.
