so today i was sitting at the border waiting to get back in Canada, while in neutral I noticed something weird, if i move the shifter side to side in neutral its not smooth anymore, best way to describe to is rubbing your finger against the teeth of a comb, and its same if my clutch is in or out, and does it if i move the selector in high or low.....
if i move the shifter slowly from left to right(and vice versa) you can feel it clicking ever mm or so.... the transmission works great otherwise. no grinds or anything

Sounds like to me that your transmission tower is rusted. My guess is that the top seal (looks like a rubber umbrella), has cracked and broken off allowing moisture to enter and rust things up. There’s probably a pretty good chance it could be taken apart, cleaned/buffed off, and reassembled with a new seal.

But this is just a guess, I’ve never seen it, but it’s just what I’ve priced together from what you described.

i agree something in the tower. Highly doubt something in trans. Towers are cheap and easy to replace if it bothers you. Usually you change them out when your gear shifter is flopping all over the place in gear

I had a similar issue on my K100 years ago. You have to remove the tower to see what is worn out. Pretty simple.

I don't know, if I go slowly from left to right or right to left I can feel it go over a "tooth" exactly every mm or so. That makes me think it is not something that got in like dirt or rust..
Trucks going in next week for oil change I'll get them to look then.

And on another note, it doesn't do it when the truck is cold, only after I run it for awhile

There is a peg on the shift tower rod that moves. Mine was worn out. I only excessive play on mine. It’s pretty easy to remove and take a look. Just be easy removing if you want to reuse the gasket.
