Well depending on where you live along US23 in Michigan... You wont be passing through all that much... You should not have much problem getting in to Michigan with a load... Getting out is so so...
Michigan is a Penninsula, not what you would call a passing through state... unless you are going to Canada.
When you want to go home, I bet more often then not you will be taking a load from TN to Kalamazoo.... My last 4 out of 6 loads into Michigan...
This is my opinion... as far as cities go... Chicago, Indy, Columbus and St. Louis are probably the best passing through places to live...
Valapariso, IN would be perfect if you go Company... Routing around the toll roads of IN, and OH begin and end there.
Honestly, when you ask for home time, Prime is going to get you there... just be flexible and give them a day or two leeway... Your going to worry yourself if you expect to be home exactly on all the days you want. try not to put your self in a box... If I have something I need home time for, I try to limit that commitment to one day... the other 2-3 days are loose and I either get them before, after or sandwich that important day.
As to home cooking... Its love/hate with my brother when I am home... My sister-in-law and I get to over rule him on Dinner choices and enjoy the things she loves to cook.

My husband and I will be driving team and are going to Prime's orientation this week in springfield. Because I've only got 3 months experience, I have to go out with a trainer for 30 days. We live in mid-western TN and my son is graduating high school on the night of Monday, the 18th. (10 days after orientation) He's graduating with high honors and would be extremely hurt if I weren't there to see him get his diploma. What are the chances of my being able to be home on that night to attend his graduation? We live around 6 hours from Springfield, and will be driving to orientation and leaving our vehicle there, as we were told after training, we'd be routed home to pick up whatever we needed. I'd even be willing to drive back and forth to springfield if need be. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Chances are it will be pretty tough for you to get back because you'll be running as a team with a trainer, surprised they won't let you go with your husband if he has several years experience under his belt. You may want to have a chat with Matt Rachel or someone about that. Or I would reschedule orientation until after graduation, I think your setting yourself up to get your feelings hurt over this. Also see if they'll let your husband go through TNT training immediately after orientation so he can be your trainer.Vickster O Thanks this.

Vulcan, thanks for the info.! My husband has just under the needed experience to be able to train me. He could go with a trainer for 30 days, then able to train me. We were trying to arrange it so we could both attend the orientation at the same time, but that's not looking so good now. My husband doesn't like the idea, but I don't think he understands how important it is for me to be there for my son. My son's real dad hasn't been around for years and I'm the only one that would be able to attend. Thanks again for your advice!!

I would agree with Vulcun on this... I think they could get you there, and would try... but for something this important to you I wouldnt risk it and be left with circumstances beyond your control.
Its 10 days, you arent going to be training with your husband anyway... you're really only giving up going through orientation with your husband, and that would have been only a couple days together before you would be seperated and on the road with your trainer.
The terminal and hotel are chock full of friendly people. You wont feel like a stanger for very more than a couple hours at best.Vickster O and teampitts3 Thank this. -
Thank you!! It's nice to get peoples' opinion that understand! I've heard nothing but good things about Prime and the people there. The 20-hour bus ride won't be as convenient as driving 6 hours, but its a minimal price to pay for my son's happiness. That, and the guilt I'd have to deal with knowing my son has nobody to support him that night. Thanks again, you've been a big help!

Have to agree with U2 on this. I visit Prime everytime my husband rolls in there and EVERYone that I have met has been nothing but nice to me and my kids. Welcome aboard!

Sounds great, and thank you!! I can't wait to join; have had some bad experiences at my first employer. So far, I haven't heard anything bad about Prime!
-
Good luck with your training! With a positive attitude, I think your experience with Prime will be great - mine has.
On the subject of "hearing bad things about Prime" on this list... you haven't been poking around much! They love to trash Prime (and for that matter any large trucking firm) on this list... -
Anyone in orientation at Prime with an update today? I'm thinking about joining up with Prime in the near future. Thanks
