If there's one thing I've learned in 40 yrs of driving and 10 yrs of that was hauling logs in Oregon is, you never know what's around the next corner.

Was that you last night? Sorry, long week and I was ready to get home. I had to PC the last hour just to make it.

Just drive your truck and stay in your lane and let others do the same. Most of the time, they will, most of the time.

Doesn't help while its rainin.... It only helps in very light rain or after it stops raining as it drys the mirror a bit faster...

Some trucks have hi/lo heat settings which keep mirrors dry even in down pours. Course it doesn't help when a knucklehead rides in your spray zone with no lights on.

some trucks ride better than others
it may look like 75 mph to you
it gets real slick when it finally rains in the southwest
not so much in the north west

I wondered about that! I think it has to do with what type of materials they use for the roads.

My experience is the mirrors stay almost totally clear EVEN in very heavy rain and EVEN with lots of vehicles passing me. The only place my mirrors are not clear are the corners. I am also careful to turn on mirror heat before I get into rain as much as I can.

I've met many newbies that didn't know about it. My recommendation is to turn on mirror heat a few minutes before you run into moisture, fog, snow, ice, etc (when you anticipate it) so that when you do finally get into the wet stuff the mirror is already warm. My Freightliner turns mirror heat off after 30 minutes if outside temp is above 60 F or unless the wipers are turned on. My last Volvo had a 2 position switch. 1) on for 8 minutes, or 2) on until the truck is turned off.
