Don’t put your trust in google maps

I wasn't trying to imply it in that regard. Google Maps and similar, I find, are good at helping someone stay ON a route. In providing the simple things such as which lane you should be in, how far away the next turn is and whether it is a left or right or a veer instead of a turn and how you should route yourself through a complicated highway intersection. I'm sorry if you think I'm taking a cop out on such help. But, I've found such information #### helpful in helping me not take a wrong turn or being three lanes over from where I need to be. All sorts of those kinds of aid have nothing to do specifically with trip and route planning. Just about trip and route execution.
I have also found it to be very helpful for traffic conditions. It isn't perfect, but it sure has helped provide information on traffic jams, estimated delays due to those jams, and so forth. Not perfectly, but definitely better than being 'blind' to such traffic information.

 

A great use of google maps i can remember , there is a lumber yard up in phoenix , il that i go to every once in awhile. There is 4 streets into the yard all 4 of them are truck restricted. The only exception is one only becomes truck restricted after the entrance to the lumber yard and there is a police departnent office located conviently after the entrance of the lumber plant. Without google maps i wouldve never figured that #### out.

 

People really are dumb. I hate today’s society.

I don't use a map or GPS. Just ask someone the general direction of where I'm going if I don't know, point 'er that a way and rock'n'roll till we get there.

 

The stalk for the turn signal is too small. It's a choking hazard..... They need to be made bigger.

No data plan required.

use Google maps like your Atlas for a reference if you're an old-school professional just like your GPS..but also while you're on Google maps make sure to use Google Street View and Google terrain as you look at your route and see the scenery you get to look forward to a lot of times you'll find out I shouldn't be on this road.
