Here is the info taken off of the FMCSA website below
Help me Register
The step-by-step registration guide helps you:
- Determine if you need a USDOT Number, Operating Authority (MC Number), Hazardous Materials Safety Permit, or Cargo Tank (CT) Number
- Find out what forms and processes you need to complete
- Determine what costs are involved
- Find out which regulations apply to you
- Fill out online forms
I might be confused though so can you please provide the link to where you get your Operating authority from.
thanks,
Andrew -
No lawyer is needed. goto this link and it will guide you through the forms needed for DOT and MC numbers

The only thing you cannot do yourself is the BOC 3 filing. -
Never heard of such a thing. STB usually deals with railroads. Getting your own authority is very, very easy to do all by yourself and only costs $300 for the DOT plus a process agent to file the BOC-3.......and of course the insurance, the most costly part of it all.bullhaulerswife Thanks this.
