This happened around 5:00 friday afternoon.I stopped at the pilot old hucks travel center for the night. I 24 east didn’t opened back up until 7:30 that morning. As far as lane departure and automatic brakes it makes you a better driver as far as newbies but don’t rely on it.I have all that suff on my truck and the main thing drivers need to focus on is following distance and when to merge back over once you past a vehicle. I can’t tell you how many times newbies and old timers merge back over before they have enough clearance to do so. If I’ve got to break my cruise your ### is too #### close!!!!

Yeah I got the auto shift also. Ha ha. If traffic is stopped and truck is going 65MPH the computers can still stop the truck. I'm not saying they will never wreck. The computers can put the brakes on at the last possible moment.
Not sure if it lets more unsafe drivers run a truck. We could say the same thing about ABS , but ABS can help a driver. It just one more step to self driving trucks. Remember about 34,000 people die in traffic accidents every year.
Have see how much I like in a couple months.Cam Roberts and Bud A. Thank this. -
Why are you using cruise control on ice, snow, or any inclement weather? I was taught that anything more than light rain, or in snow or high winds, don't use cruise control.thaistick and NavigatorWife Thank this.

Is it me, or am I seeing a big increase in
18 wheelers rear ending stop traffic at full
Speed and killing people.
Seems like we get a couple of these a week.Lepton1, NavigatorWife and COBB2070 Thank this. -
Maybe. You get no warning it's about to happen. Mine has activated twice when I'm the only vehicle within sight and sometimes it's an overpass and sometimes its an overhead sign. Just bam,and truck attemps a panic stop.

Been 3 within a couple hours of the house in the last week. 1 dead in KY, 3 more in IL...all on I24...and another 1 on I69 in IN or KY (I really wasn't paying much attention to where exactly that one was).Bud A. and Western flyer Thank this.

No it will not stop the truck completely before a collision. If you are hauling *** and drive up on stopped traffic, yes it will apply the brakes and slow you down some to lessen the impact but it will NOT stop you completely before impact. Do your job and pay attention

Freightliner says it can stop the truck. I'm not say don't pay attention, the computers can possibly stop the truck. It a backup in case the drive does not see the problem.
LoSt_AgAiN Thanks this. -
Must be the brand new version.
