Thanks for the advice. I actually applied earlier today with Schneider. I have a phone interview with them tomorrow and most likely will be headed to their training school for 18 days in Charlotte hopefully starting next week. It looks as though I chose well.
Mega carrier or smaller company...

Senn is probably ok to get started.
The reputation is, the dispatchers will let you run and if you like doing west coast runs they'll run you there.GamecockBill Thanks this. -
Oh I'm so sorry. I wish you the best. Just understand, if they pay for your CDL school they will have a leash around your neck for a year.
I would have made a different choice but good luck. -
Whoa... I'm not locked in yet. Just curious who you would have gone with? Already second guessing as it is.

I would avoid all the big megas. JB Hunt, Sneeiiider, CRST, Swift, CR England, Werner, Heartless Express, Knight, Crete, etc. You can work for a much better smaller company like oh Millis Transfer, I'm pretty sure they take newbies and offer a CDL school. I've read good things about a smaller outfit called Ozark out of Memphis. They hire newbies but do not offer CDL school. I've heard decent things about John Christner. Not sure if they take newbies though. I've heard decent things about Roehl. Not sure about that one though. I've heard decent stuff about Jim Palmer as well. They will put you through a CDL school.
That guy chinatown can help you more. But he'll recommend a mega without hesitation. LOL
Whoever you go with pay for the CDL school yourself. That way you can walk at any time without any financial obligations to these people.
Just remember, these megas have massive turnover. Consider why. Do you want to be just another new hire that quits?
But don't let me make the decision for you. It's your life, do with it what you wish.Last edited: Jul 1, 2019

J B Hunt hires nationwide with only 3 months experience and online orientation.
One could train with Swift.. Then if they didn't like it, go to JBH after collecting 2k of the 3k new driver bonus at Swift in 3 to 4 months.
Since there is no contract at Swift, it would be a legit deal plus JBH will probably pay off the tuituon for you over time.. And they tend to have new hire bonuses as well. The old double dip.GamecockBill Thanks this. -
Thanks for the advice. No, I'm sorry, I've already gone to school and gotten my CDL just over a week ago. I'm suppose to speak with someone from Schneider tomorrow, but am kinda having some second thoughts. Thinking about a smaller company and maybe going tanker from the gitgo. Gotta get busy making decisions in the morning.MartinFromBC Thanks this.

Schneider does not pay for school up front...no contract.... they will reimburse you $200 a month ...upto $7000.... if you think you can't stay with your first company longer than a year, than pay for your schoolingGamecockBill Thanks this.
