Looking at moving to Tennessee this fall, leaning towards Eastern Tennesee for its close proximity to the Atlantic coast for me to get my boating and saltwater fishing Fix but open for other considerations.
I have Lived in SW Florida for 35 years but recently did 3 winters in my childhood hometown of Grand Rapids Michigan . Beautiful there July and August but I am never doing another winter there.
Can't do SW Florida anymore because of the heat in the summer and the inconvenience for trucking,
I do like the St Pete Fl area during the winter though
I own my rig now and hope to lease on or do my own authority in the Spring.
Anyways I know nothing about Tennessee other than driving through Murfreesboro and Chattanooga and they have better roads than Kentuckey and no state income taxes. .
I would like to find an area I can buy a minimum of 5 acres and build a pole barn and maybe a tiny home.
Not totally out in the sticks for security of equipment reasons but doesn't have to be near any schools or total conveniences.
So help me out if you can Tennessee folks .
Thank you

A married trucking couple in Florida posted on here that they're moving to East Tennessee and want to live in the boonies also. They found something, but not sure where they looked; maybe Zillow or rentown.com
@tow614 can probably help.Rocks, Intothesunset and tommymonza Thank this. -
The land is much cheaper over near Savannah TN. That's south or southeastbof Jackson, TN. You're close ro TN river.
East TN is crowded and expensive, by comparison, due to Knoxville.Rocks and tommymonza Thank this. -
It's still has to be better than Michigans 4.5 income tax and stupid high property taxes. .
Florida gets you with 14,000 dollar building permits and vehicle impact fees.Rocks, singlescrewshaker, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this. -

I grew up in southern Ohio on the border with Kentucky. While it was a great place to grow up, there was a lot of poverty, and when you have more than most of the people who live around you, it makes your stuff a target to get stolen. If you live in a back woods part of Tennessee with a nice boat and your rig, you can almost count on getting things stolen. I live in California now, and plan on retiring within 10 years, probably in Oregon on some property on the coast. No state tax there either, and the ocean fishing is a lot better than the east coast.

I’m not a local, but I used to drive through there fairly often, and really liked the area between Cookeville and Knoxville. As far as that goes, I really liked western North Carolina, too. Asheville is expensive, but maybe somewhere near Hickory?

Look into Dandridge or Jefferson City. Both are in Jefferson county, each is on a lake, and dandridge is just off of I-40. And it's just far enough from knoxville to not really be hit with the higher costs. Plus you've got gatlinburg and that excitement about an hour away
