I personally like Cookville/ Crossville area, Knoxville is fine, not as expensive as Nashville, more blue collar, lot of housing choices, all price ranges. Better for Trucking, Near 40/75/81. Be ready to still have snow, unless you go a little more south of 40. Big difference in temps too. Stay away from the paper plant near Cleveland.Lol. A lot of Michigan folks down there. The whole area between Nashville, Bowling Green, Knoxville and Somerset, where my family’s from has a lot of ties to Mi. I Love Tennessee, Having lived there as a kid for a while. Should be a good choice, never heard of anyone who regretted it. Old Dominion just opened a Terminal next to the Petro in Ktown. I took some freight to them last month.Everything’s new, looks like a great place to work.

Just sealed the deal on my new Winter home.
Bringing it down to Florida from Kentucky in the fall. -
What do you like about Cookeville area? The fact that it is centrally located between the big cities?
Is Chattanooga quite a bit warmer than Knoxville in the winter?
Where you livin now if you don’t mind me askin?Last edited: Jul 4, 2019

I actually just moved into the the south Knoxville area about 2 months ago. So far I love it. Cost of living is relatively low here. Plenty to do if you move close to the pigeon forge area. As for the roads, they are either the smoothest roads in the nation, or nearly rivaling Michigan. Currently driving dump truck here and some of the highways and roads will shake a filling out of a tooth. Other than that, I highly recommend south to south east Knoxville area. Hell anywhere around Douglas lake will be prime.

Glad you made it out of Memphis alive too. My buddy delivered there recently and parked in a cove in fromt of his delivery to sleep. Middle of the night he hears commotion and thieves had broken in to the truck in front of him and were looting it. The guy was asleep in the cab!
I live in Maryville, have since 96.
@tommymonza, if I had it to do over again I’d shoot for the Tri Cities area. When I go up there to visit my in-laws it’s always 5 or more degrees cooler in summer. I’m at 1000’, they’re at about 1800’ in Johnson City.
Lots of lakes in East TN. You’d like it.Rocks, scythe08, tommymonza and 3 others Thank this. -
I run Memphis multi stops several times a week. I carry with me for a few of them. My grandad lived in a trailer park community, best I could describe it was you went left under a narrow low train bridge. Then the trailer park wasn't far away. That's a nice quiet area.86scotty, tommymonza and truckdriver31 Thank this.

. Metro Detroit.
I like the Cookeville area, mainly because my families from just north of there. Near Dale Hollow Lake. But the whole area is set back in time. I’d happily live 20 miles or so in any direction of Cookeville. Near a smaller town. Centerville lake area is very nice, around Sparta, Smithville. As far as Trucking though,it’s out of the way a bit, better around Knoxville area, so I could stop home easily, I was going to suggest a Houseboat on one of the TVA lakes. You could check all of them out. See which one you like best. Better than a Condo, IMO. The problem is, no matter where you go, leaving an empty place, is subject to vandalism or theft.A marina or Campgrounds, with groundskeepers seems like a good idea to Me. Beats a Condo, LolRocks Thanks this.
