So, Mike, in your best educated guess, would you agree that I could do a 7' skip and use some pvc to add sturdiness to it, ground as per rabbi's instructions, use rg8x cable, tune the Skip as may be needed, and use my "barefoot" (think that means unaltered) Cobra 29 LX, and expect around 5 miles range on open highways?

Madmonkey...Yes i am a lil fustraited cause it feels as if you want everone else to do the work for you....All of us out here have limited time as well..Familys,home repairs n yd work n such so your time is no more valueable than anyone elses....Yes its awsome that your asking and trying to learn but some stuff tou need to research in yer own..Ex the braided gnd strap, not hard to google that...Lostsa threads here to run through to see what others are doing...Most here are willing to help which takes away our time and what will piss many off is that we tell you all this but you not learning anything and not willing to put time in yourself....
What ever you do,take notes for a later time.. -
That is what I'd do. And get a noise cancelling mic.madmoneymike5 Thanks this.

Thanks. Which mic do you like?

The ranger sra-198 is a great noise canceling mike. It’s built tough like the mikes from the 60’s. You just have to remember to keep the mike touching your upper lip while you talk or you will have weaker sounding audio (like all noise canceling mikes). It’s cost less than other NC mikes too.
