First, this isn't "real" trucking. This is kid's stuff. I have a little Isuzu NPR 14' box truck that I take on deliveries overnight to some cities within 500 miles or so, but I have it rigged for taking a nap.
With all the restrictions out there, where can I get a night's sleep without paying to park? I'm in the north east. It's pretty unfriendly to trucks in this area.
Is it ok to just park anywhere and kind of blend in? Grocery store lots, Wal-Marts, any other places you can think of?
The rest areas are usually in use by you guys doing real (long) hauls, and I don't want to add to the problem of the overcrowding there already is.
Any tips for a little NPR to park overnight and catch some Z's?
Thanks.

placard it with

Thanks bubbavirus.
Good idea, but I guess I'm a little thick. I've seen placards for disabled people or for hazmats, but what kind of placard would I use, and then where would I park it?
Sorry.. I'm trying... ha ha -
Bubbavirus was making a joke. And placarding with anything when you are not hauling Hazmat will get you in a lot of trouble.
Just find yourself a legal/safe spot and don't give it a second thought. You need your rest too. -
If I had alittle truck I would park at a shopping center or a mall, away from the buildings in case anyone gets nervous, shouldn't be a problem.
-
Ha ha ha... ok. Guess Bubba was running me through the new member gauntlet. A little hazing is a good thing.
I was thinking shopping centers would be good. Glad to hear that's the right way to go. Thanks, guys. -
since its "that small" a truck, try mc donalds, burger king, etc. shopping malls, home-depot, lowe's, wally-world, maybe even places like circut-city, frye's, comp-usa, etc, etc. just park way in the back out of the way, but don't "box yourself in" either. watch out for the upcoming holiday season cramped parking lots too...............
-
Yep, most parking lots these days are designed to keep us out, lol.
If you park smart and as far from the store as possible you'll have no issues. During the holidays especially, make sure to park in such a way that you have the room to turn out when you leave. Visualize you parked, and every other spot in the lot used. Do this and you'll be fine.
One good way to do it is park right on the cross section of 4 spots, This should provide you ample space to turn, and nobody will get too close to you. -
I hate put a damper on this, but also use caution. Not all Shopping Center will allow you even if you do park away from the Building. There is one in my Home Town who has all kinds of Room, but will allow 4 Wheelers park in the fire lane but will call the Police on Trucks.
And yes I have written the Head Quarters of the Store complaining of this. Since I had not heard them call in on any more trucks, but now I am not living there. -
Dude you are the man. Im glad to see a six wheeler is inquiring about parking, nothing fired me up more then driving all day pulling into a rest area or truck stop and seeing a 6 wheeler or camper in a spot and no place to park a big truck. Pro1driver has it nailed, stick with the retail lots but ya they might chase you out but for the most part they wont, or a small pulloff along side the road is good, you can turn around any place big trucks cant we will travel 10-15+ miles at times to turn around. And if your unsure about a spot and you have a radio in the truck just ask, some drivers are JERKS but not all, you tell them you need a place to call home for a few hrs, youll get help just beware the wisenheimers. Never the less I had luck with the retail stops or small pull offs with a big truck just dont block anyone or anything and itll be fine.. good luck buddy, again thanx for asking if you have any other 6 wheeled buddys tell them dont be so shy
