Lol swift tried to do that and now they're under a lawsuit in tennessee
-
yepper and they wonder why there's "so many big truck wrecks!" out here right?
-
Yup yup. Especially central refrigerated drivers. Omg I talked to one of them after helping them back up into the dock. I asked him where he got his license and he admitted that he paid for it. These are the people that'll ruin the trucking industry by making the DOT stricter on all truckers with the BS rules.

DON'T BLAME THE NEWBIES! BLAME THE #### TRUCKER MILLS! THEY JUST GET YOU THE MINIMUM FUNDAMENTALS TO GET A LICENSE! THEY ALSO TEST YOU! IT IS OBVIOUS TO EVERYBODY UNLESS YOU HAVE A BACKGROUND IN THIS YOU ARE NOT REALLY GOING TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. THE SCHOOLS JUST CHURN OUT STUDENTS & DON'T GIVE A #### ABOUT THE PRODUCT. VENT YOUR ANGER AT THE SCHOOLS. THESE POOR SOB'S ARE BEING RIPPED OFF BY THE SYSTEM! 5 DAYS TO LEARN AT 15 MINUTES A DAY DOES NOT TEACH YOU HOW TO BACK UP CONSISTENTLY!

This is nothing new. The trucking schools are usually 4 weeks long, you can only learn enough to be dangerous in that amount of time. They don't teach you how to drive a truck, they teach you how to pass the CDL test. That's where companies like Stevens, Swift, and others come in. They take these raw recruits in and try to mold them into truck drivers. Some of them make it, most of them won't. My experience with Stevens a dozen years ago was a mixed bag. Their training program is top notch. If I was a trucking company owner looking at applications and I saw the driver had trained through Stevens Transport that would score extra points for me. As for being a place to work long term, I don't think so. I was out six months after they let me go solo. dealing with their payroll lady was a nightmare. I don't know if things have changed, but when I was there, every payday was a screaming match over the phone because half my miles would be missing from my paycheck. That was my experience. -
I agree slider. It's a good company to get your experience. Then move on, theres much more opportunities out there than getting only paid 24 cents a mile.
