1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

    Hey everyone

I have a CDL and I drove for Covenant for a few months OTR Solo. However that was back around 2001 so I would have to go through training again.

I am in need of any kind of work and I would like to get back into trucking either OTR or regional / local stuff.

If any recruiters out there offer company based tranining, I will gladly take you up on the offer and do my best to be an asset to the company for years to come.

I am 29 and I live in Blue Ridge, Georgia (at the very top of the state). Thank you for your consideration.

What is your driving record like? Do you have any flatbed experience? My # is 706-988-2364

My driving record is out of date but here is what I have done.

I attended a college driving school in Dothan, AL. Interstate Driving Academy. I do not think they are in business anymore but I have a certificate from the school. It is where I trained and earned my CDL as well as got the Doubles / Triples, Tank, and Hazmat endorsements although my hazmat has expired and I have not updated it. This all happend back in around 2001 (Ill have to check the cert from the school to be sure)

I then decided to go to Covenant Transport since they are 1.5 hours away from where I live. I was with a trainer for a bout 2-3 months because they could never get my trainer and I back to the terminal at the time so we were on the west coast for a while.

We finally got back and I got my own tractor and did my OTR driving. I did that for 3-4 months but was terminated. I am not going to get into a he said she said match about it because it is over and done with. There was an issue with my quallcom system and there was about a 30-45 min delay in any message I sent back to head quarters. The night dispatcher (a guy who I have no clue who it was) thought I was ignoring him and wrote me up. When my normal dispatcher came in the next morning he had me park my truck in Chicago and told me I was terminated. My wife had to drive from GA that day to come get me. It was a mess and I had reported the quallcom had a huge delay and they never looked into it. So from their side it was a company policy violation by ignoring my dispatcher, when really it was my quallcom that was malfunctioning.

Anyway, I drove for 3-4 months over the road with them. I have been to all but 3 of the 48 states (Havent been to Maine, Vermont, or New Hampshire. I have been to Canada on a few occasions to deliver loads as well. All of my work with Covenant was dry van freight. 95% of it was no touch but there was a time or two I had to unload or help unload my trailer.

After leaving covenant I worked for AWS which was a trash company here in Blue Ridge. I started driving a yard dog for them and then I got to drive on the road hauling trash which I did for another year. I took a different career path after that and complete college. I got into computers but it is almost impossible to find a job doing that in this small area so I have pretty much given up hope on it.

No accidents or any kind of violations while driving my truck. No log book issues or anything with DoT. Absolutly no violations in my professional career.

I have my DAC report in front of me. The only ticket I have on here was back in January, 2002 for speeding. 67 in a 40 down towards Atlanta. I paid a 25.00 fine and was done. There are 0 points on my license.

I have no felonies on my record. I have a misdemeanor of minor shoplifing from walmart back when I was younger and stupid. It was back in 2002. No jail time, just a fine and a year of probation which I completed with no problems. I havne't been in trouble since then.

I have never done flatbed but I am willing to learn. I do not mind the physical aspect of it of tarping and strapping down. I will just need to be shown how.

I do not know what kind of position you have available but I certainly want to hear more about it if you will take me under your wing. I am married and I have 2 children here in Blue Ridge. But with this current economy and the way things are, my family understands if I have to be gone OTR again. Its a tough choice but if its between that and losing everything we have then thats what I have to do.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

I am a oo and I just happen to have a good rig sitting i am based about 20min outside of athens ga about 2.5 hours from you. All we run are flats and I would be looking for someone to run on percentage, right now we are in some decent freight thats getting us home most weekends but who knows how long that will hold out we run where the freight dictates but mostly from the south east to the mid west. My number is above in my first post give me a call and we can discuss it futher. Thanks

You will have to forgive my ignorance. I don't know about how percentage works but I can assume you pay your drivers a percentage of what the customers pay to have the load hauled. Home most weekends sounds very nice and I would understand if I had to skip some weekends when things picked up.

I am certainly interested. Let me discuss this with my wife and I will be calling you.

Just to make certain, you are OK with training me correct? I dont care to ride with another driver or whatever is needed but I will need some time to shake the rust off of me. Then again, I may do just fine but to be safe I would prefer to at least spend a few days with someone and getting some driving time in under supervision.

I will discuss this with my wife over the weekend and let you know something probably mid week. I certainly do appreciate this opportunity and I assure you that I will show you the same respect you have shown to me. I may be calling you sooner than expected but since I do have a wife and 2 kids, I need to include them in this decision as well. Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to speaking with you.

I have a veteran driver that can show u the ins and outs of flatbedding. Its hard work sometimes but not too bad. Yes you will be working on a percentage of what the load pays. The truck is a international 9400 its easy to handle and has a short wheelbase with a straight 10 tthe trailer is a 48ft spread. Just let me know.

Indeed I will. I plan do discuss it with my wife over the weekend. Thanks again wtm!

Oh WTM, I'm sure my wife will ask and to be completely honest, I don't know myself. How much does the average driver bring home in your company that is on their own out there driving? I know it fluctuates week to week but on average. You know women, I am sure my wife will want to know.
