You have several misconceptions
Everything on the truck is part of the pretrip. Everything!.
You have no CSA points. The company gets 2 for that specific violation. You have a PSP, which simply lists violations with no points.
Also, everything on the truck is part of the pretrip. I can't emphasize this enough. Everything.
If safety doesn't care, just move on with life. It's not worth worrying about.

That jam nut is supposed to be tight against the fitting at the end of the rod, which connects the rod to the slack adjuster. Without it being tight, there is a slight possibility...especially with new hardware...that the rod could spin, affecting the ability of the slack adjuster to maintain proper adjustment or worst case the fitting on the end gets backed all of the way off and you have NO functional brake on that wheel.

While you are checking the jam nut on the clevis during your pre trip also check the clevis attachment and cotter pin. Be safe out there

I see, but it was not loose it was just placed 1 to 2 inches forward, it was not moving or damaged it was very much stuck where it was.

I always check the pins just never knew the jam nut (or clevis nut) was a thing if it was not damaged or loose. I honestly never even knew what a jam nut / clevis nut was I always knew what a cutter pin and clevis pin was. Well at least I know nowFlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Yea I guess so I just did not know where it was supposed to be or what it did now I do lol. It's like looking at a different language and then saying "dont you see the space that's not supposed to be there" lesson learned I guess.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
