They have clc and a hotels com account. Seems like best Western and laquinta type hotels are the norm.

Still not 100% sold. It's a salaried position so the pay is consistent wether I'm rolling or sitting. Even when I'm at home. The biggest issue for me is home time. It's 6 to 8 weeks out. 1 at home. They fly you home so I don't have to worry about the truck or a load.

I'm usually 3 to 4 weeks out with 10 days at home so it's a change.

Being in a hotel every night gives a lot of relief for homesickness.
but 6-8 is a long time...

Depending on what you’re doing maybe you’ll be sitting a lot fighting red tape. Most states don’t allow weekend travel so you’ll get those off too

    Here’s my current situation lol

If you hate your family, your house, your own bed and boat etc. Then it is perfect.
Seems to defeat the point of working though, which generally is too earn money for the time off to do fun stuff like boat, motorcycle, ski etc.

But doing OD, you get most weekends off as well as major holidays in exotic places like the Pilot in Lodi, OH or Petro in North Baltimore, OH. You know, all the highly desirable and exotic vacation places. I actually had a recruiter just a few weeks ago who was selling his companies great 3 months out, 2 weeks home operation telling me about weekends and holidays off with pay and a chance to visit new places while still getting paid. I hung up on him!

Being on the road for 6 weeks is a long time - staying in a hotel every night also can get old real quick - especially when you are staying at a different hotel every night - I was on the road changing hotels every night and ended up having a hotel bag along with my suitcase - the hotel bag would have the stales for a stay - tooth brush, shaving stuff, etc - and the clothes I would wear the next day - plus any snacks if any - as far as rooms - I stayed in the Choice Hotels chain - depending on the day of the week (weekends are always more expensive) - the rooms would generally be between $70 - $90 per night - but what you are forgetting is all the taxes that aren't included in that rate - a $70 per night room will turn into a $85-88 per night room really quick - so $70 per night although it sounds good won't cover the expenses - the nice thing about Choice hotels is that you get a breakfast with your stay - not the best all the time - but it's free - not saying your job offer isn't a good one - but where you put your head down at night and the struggles you might have trying to do that with your truck - sounds easier than it is! Oh - all hotel chains have discount codes - check whichever chain you decide to go with or get several - that's how you get the deeply discounted rates - a $125 room will quickly become a $70 room with the discount Good Luck!

We run all day cabs, but only stay out maybe once or twice a month tops. That’s not too bad for staying in a hotel, but sometimes it would be nice to have a bunk to crash in. Some places you stop are not very near a hotel.

I never could sleep worth a flip at a TS, just too much noise and other mischief going on at night. At the customer or other vacant lot is ok though.

We pay $140 per-diem per night. That includes the hotel, and the driver usually has enough left over for supper. We have paid almost $150 per night (after taxes) at some places. I’m not going to make my drivers sleep in a roach hotel, and some places something at least decent is pretty expensive.

I don't do heavy haul or drive a day cab but I've been thinking about using hotels more. I'm trying to decide between a big sleeper and using hotels instead. Cost really won't be much different unless I plan on paying off the truck and then keeping it for a long time. Wife and I have a lot of stuff in our 86in sleeper and we prefer to cook our own meals on the truck.

Big sleeper means not having to worry about where we park to have amenities but then again it's a big truck. Using hotels means nice accommodations without the wheelbase. Lol. Decisions, decisions...

I have been doing the hotel and CLC for much of my 30+ years. It can be a challenge in summer months finding a room, but you usually can get one if you call ahead. Once you learn the lanes you run if you run the same areas often, you will find the hotels you really like or dislike. The better CLC hotels are usually around $70-$100. I don’t stay at Super 8 or Motel 6 unless there is no other option. If the Super 8 is in a small town then they usually aren’t bad. I stay frequently at a high rise newly remodeled LaQuinta that is $64 with tax using my carriers discount. LaQuinta is usually about $70 or so and the Holiday Inn Express is closer to $100. If you can find a Drury Inn that takes the CLC card this will be your favorite hotel. At the Drury you get a free dinner bar and good breakfast and a couple free drinks at night. Since you may be getting to the hotel in the pilot car, I would stay at the best hotel that takes the card because a Crown Plaza or Hyatt with a restaurant sometimes isn’t much more than a Best Western. If you are taking the truck to the hotel usually the better hotels don’t have room for a large rig even when the app says they have truck parking.
6 weeks out would be a no go for me ever, don’t care what the pay is, but you got to decide that not me.
