The specific company I was referring to with the hide who they are, buying up companies pretending to still be family owned is Apex Logistics. A larger pneumatic powder hauler in SoCal. They purchased Harrison Nichols in Irwindale, Ca, and Hartwick and Hand in Victorville. Both of those companies WERE family owned until Apex purchased them. They hide their name when they advertise directly as "Apex", and when they run ads under either of the other company names, they love to throw in "Family owned". Apex purchased H&H a while ago now, and just the other day there was an ad saying "Hartwick and Hand, Family Owned Since 1961". Harrison Nichols says "Second Generation Family Owned Since 1924" It's all Apex.
