Hi. I am the driver. I’ve been sitting here waiting on this load since Friday. You just left the house 3 hours ago. I am glad that you got here when you said you would, that puts you towards the head of the pack. But for some reason, after the loading crew returned from lunch, you asked me
“Do you think we will load today.”
It’s funny, you all tell me how many years you’ve been doing this and how big the load was, but yet, you’re bugging me about the loading. Here’s a hint: If I am sitting in my truck, burning daylight waiting to get loaded, with the CB turned off, don’t bother me. I do not want to converse with anyone on planet earth at this time. Wait in your car. When I hear something, I will tell you.

You have more patients than I. must be a refrigerated load, one reason I stopped pulling those. wait for hours at minimum sometimes a day or so, then they ask can you run that hot from CA to NY..... Loads late delivers late nothing I am willing to do about it anymore. Too many Hot runs from Coast to Coast.

But @TripleSix some of those pilots are out here on permanent paid vacation. They need to know if they are going to be stuck sitting around all day to earn that overnight & no go, or if they can go sightseeing instead.

Wait! This isnt a vacation? Im sitting in Michigan waiting to load a 'super' load. Laying on my back watching netflix. Making plans for the house I just bought. A bag of pita chips and hummus. Bugging the boss about where my escorts are and are cops set up. Watch out the windshield as the steering wheel holders jockey for parking spots. HOS rules mean little on vacation days. Bring it?
booley, beastr123, PPLC and 1 other person Thank this. -
Right before they come to escort you, they escorted a 600k dual lane 100 miles a day that took 8 weeks to deliver.
I guess that dual lane rig has a job boss who rides with the load and answers all questions, stupid questions included. Kind of like dealing with reporters.
“Are we there yet? When are we leaving? How far do you think we will get today? Can I go get something to eat?”
I will say this...even if I were running one of those giant megahaul trailers down the road, I would still have to at the very least have a coffin sleeper on the truck. Some places, there just aren’t any motels available. Some days, you’re going to eat chili out of a can.idriveaholden, Hammer166, InTooDeep and 6 others Thank this. -
You’re describing all the reasons why I firmly dislike running in groups with other drivers...
roshea, Hammer166, kylefitzy and 1 other person Thank this. -
But can't we go to lunch?
LoneCowboy, booley and TripleSix Thank this.
