I want to go O/O with 6 month experience...

Be patient and stay with Schneider for a full year. While you're there, continue to learn the lanes,shipping and receiving schedules for the different customers, so that when you transition to IC, you will have a clue as to what your doing as a business person and not an employee.

 

No you do not want to go O/O there is a whole tome written by those who did not learn all they can for a long time prior.

Right now you do not want O/O, stay right where you are as a company driver and be happy.

 

How much is plenty?

 

Some people who start out think they have plenty, but they don't. You actually have more than enough. You are like in 0.5% category of people who want to become O/O. Good luck to you

 

Most likely you won't make it with landstar, you need more experience.

 

Either get your own authority or stay on until at least past your first year.

As far as your money yes that’s more then enough. Do be mindful though as in a sense you have an extra risk that people with little money don’t have. When they might be tight here and there and think long and hard about where to spend that money, you may more freely spend or spend on things you shouldn’t because this is all a learning process for you.

Aka you can still easily fail.

 

I agree with Dune, you might be the one guy with enough savings to do this, but I wouldn’t count on or even think about your credit (80k CC you mentioned). Don’t even consider that. Put it out of your mind. What YOU have saved is what you have.
