Nope can't say I have, Only gunshot victim I've been around could forget me helping him. To me a gs wound is no where near as gross as road rash after a motorcycle wreck, Again don't ask me how I know. Sure is weird to touch your own ribs though.

But I do agree that to each their own with the choice to carry, although don't belive I would advertise the fact you have a completly gun free home. No way would I leave home without knowing the wife has her Lady Smith in her possesion or that my 12yr old knew how to handle his 410 & 243. But thats just me.

Treated a couple of those as well. 145 down the pavement on the belt buckle and no helmet.

Another was crotch rocket and guide wire at 120 mph.

Mine was at 14 learning the hard way to look both ways b4 crossing the road. Hit the car in the front fender, car was doing bout 65. No helmet or shirt on. Slid & rolled 90' in the concrete water ditch, only after the gear shifter going through my foot as I was thrown off.

Did I quit riding..heck no. Was on another ATV with pins sticking outta my foot, changing gears with my crutch turned upside down:biggrin_2555:.

Strange how these threads change subject.

I am well known by the police, fire, ems in my county. The police drive by my house twice an hour or more. There are county, state and city officers that go by.

Most of my friends also do not have guns. Others do. The town I live in has 2,000 people. The county only has 1 stop light.

    Pretty rural I say.

When you have to chose to carry in the truck whether company or a lease truck, it is your decision to make. Just remember it could end up following you.

That is why I say to each their own.

Very rural here. My driveway is 1/4 long, Rural don't equal safe. If something happened at my house the closest neighbors couldn't hear the screams for help, & Remember when seconds count the police are only minutes away.

To me gun issues have alot to do with how you were brought up, I was squirrel & rabbit hunting by myself at 6 years old, In high school all the pickup truck had gun racks, with guns in them during deer & turkey season. Strange we never had a school shooting with all the evil guns open in the parking lot owned by teenage boys.

I do respect someone choice not to own or carry, As long as they don't try & force their views or change my right to own or carry. That's when we got a problem.

Most people don't have that luxury. In fact, a Supreme Court case in the 70's concluded that police do not have an obligation to protect citizens. I don't remember the case name, but I'll look it up if you want it.

Edited: It was Warren v. District of Columbia. Also, more recent cases have followed the same pattern, such as the Gonzales case. For some people, it's not a matter of "to each their own", but rather necessity for survival. They don't have the luxury of others helping them hold what they perceive to be the moral high ground.

Most people do not know them by name either. But being well known for one of the main paramedics for a couple of years has its benefits.

Maybe so, I know several LEO as well, almost every deputy in this county was my buds in HS, also one family member as well. Still I prefer the protection of my family & myself to rest on my shoulders. I don't depend on anyone else to feed or clothe my family, Which is just as important, so why would I rely on marginal gov employees to protect us.

I'm sure it already been said, because I did not read all 85 pages.
But I would much rather take my chances and be judged by 12 than carried by 6 because some crack head punk killed me over the $ 20 in my pocket. Hell even if I was to end up in jail, it's better than DEAD.

I know this is a pretty old post, but, it is such a good one. :smt038 I do not think there should be ANY gun free zones. If you have to PULL your weapon, odds are, you won't have to fire it. I, like most other CPL holders take this privelage VERY serously. Some say people who carry guns actually want to use it. I have a fire extinguisher in my kitchen. I don't want to use it. My car has air bags. I don't want to use them. Firearms, mind you, in the right hands, are simply lifesaving tools, just like the fire extinguisher and airbag. Imagine if you had a bad fire in the kitchen with no extinguisher. You could burn down the house. In much the same way, if you were accosted by an attacker, chances are, you just aim the gun at him and he'll run for the hills. You would have diffused the situation without firing a shot.

Why do I carry a gun????? Very simple answer:: I Can't Carry A Policeman!

This is my first post, be gentile.:wav:
