This place is a joke. Scale house is rude to drivers, doesn't care how many hours they sit. Always broke down. Hubby always runs out of hours here, before he gets loaded. Then to top it all off, the TS in Clinton only holds about 15 trucks and its always full, so you have to drive several miles to actually find a place to park for your 10.

This place needs to revamp, one place to load, tight squeezes around corners and next to rail cars, its the most ridiculous set up I've ever seen. Oh, and when the three loading spots are full in the parking lot, they send you to what is called the mud lot, to wait your turn. Its a dirty mud road along the river where you get to sit for hours at a time, and don't fall asleep or rest, you must listen to channel 15 for the rude scale people to call you hours after you have checked in. :biggrin_25510:

Expect a wait time here of no shorter than 6 hours.

I used to go in there quite a bit when I drove for West Side (Cedar Rapids, IA) That place is TIGHT and easy to get lost in! And god forbid you fail to hold short for incoming coal buckets! If they need that much of it that fast, it should be put on rails! (stands back while the storm starts!!) I never had much of a problem there as far as the scale people, but its been a few years....

Did your husband tell you about the maze one has to negotiate to even get back there due to construction? Heck the place is the size of a small town, but finding a way back there could take 6 hours if you have never been there.
