Hi everyone. First off let me just say I don't know everything ! I'am a trainer for a trucking company and that is one of the first things I tell all of my students. The second is -- I'm not perfect and we all make mistakes just learn from them and move on. One of my students turned me on to this site. I think it's a great place that we can all share ideas, comments, suggestions. I have driven truck for about 6 years and have been training for 2 of those. I did do training for bus drivers and worked in city driving for a food DC center. I really like to get out on the road and see everything that the world has to offer and scare a few 4 wheelers along the way. (note here about pet peeve-drivers who don't know how to merge!!!) In my off time I try and get some scroll saw work in (it's been awhile) and of course do the "Honey do list" when I'm home. I live in MN. and have 2 kids a boy and a girl and a wonderfull wife! I hope along the way in this forum to be able to help other drivers if I can and maybe learn som new things and maybe even pass something along to my students. You may notice I have call all the new drivers students not newbees or trainees or wanabes! I think students says it all and says it the right way. So everyone Be safe,Be good,Be gone!![]()

Well hi back there Trucking Mom! Welcome to the wonderful world of trucking!! I can only speak for what I look for in my students. I most like to see my students with a good attitude and willingness to learn. Ya saw that coming huh? I'm also a trainer that is not one of those that gets in your face like a drill sarge. I expect that the students have had the schooling and my job is to do the fine tuning or as I say, I do the tweeking. I do a lot of teaching of how to live on the road and get through the day with not to much trouble along with the driving aspect of the job. I also like to see that the students are able to get along with other drivers and shippers, recievers ,and even though you will grow to hate them DISPATCHERS! (side joke..If you need to go take a dump say "I have to go take a dispatcher"!! HA HA HA) Most trainers I speak with say the same. Know how to read a map. It's surprising that a lot of students come out on the road and can not find were they are or need to go in a map book. Don't just rely on your hubby to do it. Surprise him with your ability Mom! expect to get frustated. It's ok to feel that way! I think it's natural and I expect it. I could tell stories but I wont bore you. Please let me know how your doing. Most trainers DO care!! The Trainer
