A few thoughts
The IRS will go after them, not you. You have proof of the revenue created and they issued you checks with I would think the deductions from your revenue. The issued you a w2 so they are making the claim that they had the deductions.
They may audit you but if you have all the proof you claim, you have nothing to worry about.
Half of what you posted is irrelevant to the IRS thing. Your decision to stay there, I would have quit the first time someone crapped in a closed space with me in it.
I need a good tax lawyer.

Wow, that's a dilly of a pickle. If you have a good record, many companies would love to hire you. Looks good they have women drivers. Put this behind you, if you can, don't waste a lot of cash fighting this. .18 CPM, that's unheard of. What was that, like 2 bucks an hour? I wouldn't get out of my 4 wheeler for that, and a YEAR? Sorry sweetheart, should have seen this coming, and now you know. Chinatown here has a bunch of references, all good companies or he wouldn't recommend them. Let the immigrants work for that, you're better than this. Best of luck.

Curdog1, I have nothing to offer you for words of wisdom...but do want to say that you are an incredible lady to put up with all of that. I personally would not have even accepted the job for one day at those rates. And if some loser in a truck with me whipped out his johnson and starting peeing in a jug, I don't care where we were, I would have been on the brakes, full stop, and literally kicked him out of the truck.
What an animal!!!
Sorry your start in the industry was so horrible!!!

Is it me or there is a huge influx of new drivers asking some crazy questions on here or what?
-
It isn't you, many of them are asking questions that should be talked about before they go to school,201 Thanks this.

I say look into getting a new job. Only getting .18 cents per mile is crazy plus running team plus co driver pooping in the sleeper. Even the big mega companies pay better then that
You can call the state labor board. I hear they usually have lots of power when it comes to companies not paying the state taxes. I would not spend to much time on that. You paid the taxes if they did not give the money to IRS or the state that all on them. Just work on finding a better job. That might be a little difficult if they are saying you never worked for them.Curdog1, FlaSwampRat and MartinFromBC Thank this. -
I would think the fact the IRS accepted your return, assuming the state did as well to is enough for you at this moment. I wouldn't worry about a lawyer. I would move on. The IRS and state will most likely pursue it further on your behalf. It will take time but they will. I also wouldn't be a bit surprised if you were never on there liability insurance either. I've seen it before with companies hiring new drivers with zero experience. But that's irrelevant at this point. Best of luck and move on. Companies, even good ones are desperate now for anyone with experience and a clean record/drug test.

Thanks again everyone for the advice. Just to clear up a few things, I no longer work for these people. I asked twice nicely to give me a new co-driver and told them why, that I was uncomfortable with the guy and his lazy bathroom habits but they did nothing. The third time I said if you can’t find me another co driver I will have to file a formal complaint. They sent me out on one run with one of their good ole boy drivers and when it was time to leave for the next run they informed me that he left without me on the day before even though I called dispatch to confirm departure time. After that they just froze me out, quit using me saying they didn’t have work or they couldn’t find me a co driver, that I was difficult to get along with (not true). I had begun documenting everything by this time so I have them recorded saying “no work” but they told DOL I quit. The one whole experience almost knocked my running gear out from under me and I lost confidence in myself but I am starting a new, better paying job in August. I almost forgot that I am an asset not a liability. A female driver, clean MVR,/drug test, not much experience but I am a GOOD driver. I will be just fine.
