Theres a say'n if the shoe fits ware it. What works for one dosen't always work for another. I've had a number of students all upgraded and love there job where as JJ has had 2 walk off his truck as well as his trainer. This is not a 9 to 5 job more like a 24/7 liv'n in a box always seeing somthing but never stopping. This is somthing you have to try to understand to understand the life to understand whats trucking is all about. If your married with kids it will be hard you never no what you miss till you miss it if not then it could be a great job for you. I like it but I hate as well miss the things i used to do but I like the space JJ is a trucker inside and out he loves it it's in him, thats what makes you good . Talking to people who work for Central is not the best idea instead find a truck stop watch the people who come in talk to different drivers then ask yourself is it right for me atleast then you won't be out $ 3,000 dollars. If you want anything beyond Central you will need atleast a year under your belt before they will notice you. I'm not trying to talk you out of it after all I need people like you for xtra miles but I will also teach you all you need to no to survive in this company. It's a game and you don't always win. Good luck maybe I'll see you in my truck.

Ken sent a message out the other day may be looking for teams but not training teams. I'm not a Kraft pearson I like my detention pay dedicated drivers don't get it Dole would be better for me as a trainer I think.

Hey Jess wasssss up made it tru the 95 drive and am sitting at my first drop in my truck on the st along with 10 other trucks.:biggrin_2551: The life of a trucker:biggrin_2553: talked to JJ but you already no that I'm sure. They say I should have another student by friday hope he can drive I need the rest:yes2557:. talk at ya soon.

I know it's not a 9-5 job. I drove a straight truck for 10 yrs. around the midwest. Just trying to get a feel for the company as a whole. I am going to miss my wife and daughter but I didn't see much of them where I worked before either. That I can handle.

what atrracted me to trucking was you practicaly live the life style of pilots and flight attendants. You commute to your truck and pick up your load. Also, unless you are on a dedicated route you can see a lot of the country if your carrier goes 48 + canada and alaska.

You will never sleep at the same time everyday unless you are local, you alaways have challenges, and you are being a good citizen by delivering what everyone needs to live here or where ever your load finally ends.

6pak was just making a point!

He wasn't knocking you in anyway, it isn't the life for everyone, unless you have a very understanding self sufficient partner it won't work!

The company is a good starter company, the school teaches you enough to get your licence and then you spend 4 weeks with a trainer, then a day or so at a Terminal doing your upgrade and then they give you a truck with a load going towards your home.

Central are like any big company they have some good points and some Bad points, how you do at Central depends on you and your FM, You get a crappy FM who doesn't give you the miles and it is impossible to be successful there!

Some Company info: Central have Electronic Logs, they have an over idle policy and no APU's on Company trucks, Paid weekly, Per diem is Mandatory and they run 48 states.

Central are not hiring any experienced drivers right now, only students to go through there school.

If you talked to 20 central drivers some are going to say there happy others will tell you its a crappy company don't work there :biggrin_25511:.

JJ and 6pak have been there for over a year and both will be there for at least 2 more year, JJ's trainer Paul has been there while and is currently doing his second lease and happy there.
