Hopefully more drivers who had their CDL's revoked will hear about this and can join the class-action. I hope Swift and the TN Dept of Trans. are punished with a huge settlement.

I wonder how many more of these large trucking companies will be subject to this type of action now.

Well dayuum Tony....... I live in South Carolina and guess what I just got in the mail today, May 28, 2009.........you guessed it. A nice little letter from the SCDMV stating that I have until Sept. 9, 2009 to retake all tests written and driving or my squeaky clean cdl-a with hazmat, doubles-triples, tanker, and passenger endorsements will revert back to a good ol' 4 wheeler license. I guess I can drag flatbeds, boxes, doubles, etc for three years logging hundreds of thousands of miles, and not having one accident or ticket but I must not know what the hell I'm doing. And yes I do blame Swift. I also blame TDoT for not policing their authorized examiners closer. When I was in the school in Millington from Jan-Feb 2006 we had several people that in no way should have received licenses. But they did. I guess it caught up with Swift and TDoT. Now I have to take my time to travel an hour up the road to retake these tests. I left Swift after 9 months because I got tired of having to fight to get loads, then run the load, then have to fight to get paid for the load. I tried both vans and flatbeds with them hoping if I moved to flatbeds they would have better people. What I found was that Swift has some GREAT people working for them. But the night and weekends DM's will cut the legs out from under them as soon as they go home. Even when it's a fleet manager who has set something up. I pulled flats for Melton for about another 9 months until I could get me a good local job so I can actually see my wife and kids ( without having the dog bite me when I came through the door). So, yes, this thread is still very much current and relavent. Until today I had no idea this was coming down the pike at me.

So I'm out shopping with my mom late Wednesday afternoon and my beau calls and says, "Guess what hon, I lost my license; but it's not my fault. Check your email." I said, I can't I'm shopping. He says, "well check as soon as you get home." Annoyed, "I said just tell me now.":biggrin_25516: He says, I can't I'm down to one bar. Can I tell you how much that is not something a girl wants to hear when she is trying to decide between Haute Red and Flirty Girl nail polish colors.:biggrin_25517: I mean really, I hate when he calls me and tells me half a story.

So we eventually get home, and I check e-mail to find the following missive:
Guess what darlin’, I no longer have a CDL class A

There were 8 federal agencies that went through the Swift Driving School and about 25,000 drivers no longer have their CDL or their regular license.

Swift really screwed things up and now I am out of work until I can get things straightened out. :biggrin_25510:There are just some times I hate being me.

Swift Transportation’s Memphis and Millington TN driving schools were raided by 8 different federal agencies. All the drivers who had gone there from 2000 to 2007 have lost their license. They have been suspended. We now have to get them renewed or just let them be lost. I will have to re-take the written test, the road test, and the skills test. The skills test is straight line backing, off set backing and parallel parking, all with the trailer attached.
While incredibly annoying, inconvenient, and possibly costly, this really isn't a problem cause he's a great driver and has 4 years experience under his belt. I know there are plenty of y'all with 20+ years experience, but he really is quite a good and safe driver. I trust his abilities.

    Baack Thanks this.

I wouldn't put his abilities in question but I would like to know why they took his CDL. I would hope that the company will help the drivers get their livelihood back but you never know from a company like that in the first place.

Do you have a link for a story or other info about this? My little brother went to that school back in 2004 and I would like to pass on the right info to him. I know that some of the license were revoked a while back. But now it's all of them? Did I read that right? Thanks in advance for your help.

This is really sad, now the next question is it just the ones who came out of TN, or all schools gonna get clobbered?

So how many class action suits will hit the books with this round?

All that's needed is to pass a road test and written test . Swift should be required to provide the vehicles at no charge or pay for a rental . Then there is the matter of lost income .
