You might look at the other thread about Henderson/Hays, although most of it has turned into a discussion about their lease purchase.
I worked for them for 1 1/2 years. All in all I's say they are a pretty fair company and they are willing to pay you when you do something.
My dad works for them now. He runs a dedicated run, but this week the factory he hauls for was shut down, so he went to pulling general freight to make a little money. He left Sunday evening from his house in Southern Illinois (about 25 miles from the Henderson offices) and got home last night and put in right around 2700 miles. Not too bad. I was gone the same amount of time for Heartland, and put in about 1100.
Trucks have either Detroit or Mercedes power, Super 10's or auto-shifts (primarily super 10's, they had a lot of problems with the auto's), plain-jane interiors, APU on every truck, all pretty new.
Trailers are all Thermo King or Carrier (they are only buying new Carrier units now, but it'll take them a while to thin out the Thermo King's).
They haul a lot of lettuce out of Cali and Yuma, AZ. They also haul a lot of Coor's out of Denver. Plus who knows what else.
Good luck, let us know how it goes. -
I worked for Henderson all of '06, regional, Ca-Az. Was home every w/e. Good company. Even had a trailer ripped off from the house and didn't get fired.

How is thier lease purchase
-
About like everyone elses lease purchase= they make money, you get screwed. They are a good company in my opinion, but no company is good enough to lease a truck off of. You want a truck, you save, you work on your credit score, you work your butt off to go out, borrow money and buy a decent used truck. Then you have the option to leave your company with your truck and go somewhere else if the miles start to suck.
I did talk to a couple guys who bought their own truck and were o/o's for Henderson, and they were happy. Guys who leased from them weren't so much... -
I was company when I worked there. Never talked to L/P drivers. One nice thing about Henderson is they are small, I believe about 500 trucks, and you can get straight talk from management. Lots of produce out of Ca/Az, beer, OJ loads out of Fla, dry freight etc. My payroll was on the money, every time.
