Speaking of which... I contacted Transport Funding (my financier) and I told them that the loan does not appear on my credit report. They said that it will only appear on another "transportation" credit report, not the "consumer" credit report.
i talked to my finance guy here and he said that is correct, u have a consumer and a trasportation credit report, if the loan company just deals in transportation end of loans, ( truck, trailers) then tha loan will never go on your consumer credit report, it may though if u are behind or get it repoed.. if u get your loan through a regular bank then they may put it on your consumer credit report. transportation credit report is called paynet
he also told me the banks do not go soley off your credit score but alot on work history, paying on time, and your amount of debt
he is still looking for a place that will do engine overhaul fiancing -
I truly appreciate the info. Keep me up to date on your research. Can I ask for the loan to appear on my consumer credit report after the loan is paid in full? I paid a usury amount of interest and have paid early every time. Seems like they could throw me a bone. Oh, one driver mentioned a good point inthat I would like a mechanic that specializes in engine rebuilds. Thanks again!

Then I would not be looking at a $15000-$20000 o-haul,Find a small shop or engine guy that will not rip you off. Alot of times the best mechanics don't work at a new truck dealership, and you shouldn't have a problem getting it done for $8000-10000
-
If I actually decide to do that, meaning I decide the rebuild is every bit as good as from a larger dealer, I'll give anyone $$ who can point me to the right place. If I got the rebuild done for $8k, I don't think I would even need to borrow any money.24valve puller said: ↑Then I would not be looking at a $15000-$20000 o-haul,Find a small shop or engine guy that will not rip you off. So if you've never had a loan for a "big truck" before, does that mean anyone can get one? I don't have the best credit, would it be hard for me to get a used tractor financed?FYDA FREIGHTLINER CINCY said: ↑Speaking of which... You have to be a great driver, first off. I think you need an excellent payment history, too. A down payment of around 20% for awesome credit...40% with some banks. That is with great credit. Poor credit can get you financed if you have around 50% down. I had a great sales guy who made things work over the course of a month. I had previous business loans that were paid off and that went a long way.LDH26 said: ↑So if you've never had a loan for a "big truck" before, does that mean anyone can get one? Also, the banks seized up lending right after I got my loan. Some people were walking in with $10k for a $20k truck and getting turned down because of traffic tickets and late payments from years ago. -
I don't have so much as a parking ticket on my driving record. Never had a verbal warning (knock on wood) or anything at all. However, my credit isn't the best so that would probably hinder me. I have had small business loans for $10,000 and $12,000 commercial mowers that I always took care of, but i've got into a bind with other things in the past, 3 or 4 years ago.
