Not entirely correct............ You are correct in your previous post medic. I defy anyone to show me where any rule, other that the split rest rule, where any driver is required to have 8-hours in the sleeper. This isn't the rule now, nor was it ever the rule all the way back to the original rule which was put into effect in 1937 under the old I.C.C.
The only place the rules require 8-hours sleeping (being in the sleeper) is under the split rest rule. If you are taking one consecutive 10-hour break there is no requirement for 8-hours in the sleeper. The consecutive 10-hour rest rule requires 10-hours of "REST". There's a big difference between the words rest, and sleep. It may be a carrier/company rule, but it is not a federal rule.
