I brought up this thought on another thread, but i think it deserves a thread of it's own.
Most of us have faced this dilemma: You run out of the 14 hour clock before you're finished loading/unloading and you're faced with having to leave the customers property.
How about amending the HOS rules to allow us 30 minutes to find a safe/legal place to park. I think this provision should be written so that it does not affect the 10 hour break "IN ANY WAY". I can't imagine that it would really affect our ability to obtain "REST" in any appreciable way. And I don't think the DOT needs to get petty about this and tack this 30 minutes on to our next 14 hour clock.

Sounds like a reasonable idea to me. Which means the feds will never do it.

I always ran 2 log books, one to get you through the day, and then the one you send in to the company. (after you have shut down for the night)

I thought 2nd books went away when they started selling loose leaf.

Very true. Ya gotta throw them suckers away, and not just in the trash can inside the truck.
Not that I condone that sort of thing, mind you.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
They also believe that the DOT prefers bound books, I think the officers deserve something readable, if I can't find my reading glasses, I end up redoing them later to actually get the lines where they are supposed to be so there is no doubt about when I left the yard or the truck stop. I mark them void, and rip them up and take them out of the truck, the ones redone. -
how about my loose leaf log book, where I do what I want and match my fuel stops.
