I am here to report that when I checked in for pick-up I was told I am picking up a Uber load.
Getting a dry van loaded with milk powder. From Idaho going to Wisconsin. This seems very odd in itself to me but I'm just a driver. Hope my carrier is making money with this long haul.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Who do you work for, a Mega? Either way it doesn't surprise me. I think everybody uses Uber and Convoy these days regardless of company size.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

If it's anything like 4wheel-fuber, expect fun stuff like clients figuring out they don't have to pay you (at all) if they take 15 seconds to write that one of your headlamps wasn't working... 23 hours after delivery
Or people threatening you they'll lie you were drunk unless you accept a massive overload or do something else illegal for em.
Because "reporting" stuff to Uber is super-easy, fast, hands-off, totally "anonymous", and even REWARDING (chances are they'll get a freebie and a coupon for return business for lying)KB3MMX and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Tiny company.SteveScott and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Makes sense to me. Why would they not use Uber? It's one of the many tools in their toolbox. I don't see the issue I guess.KB3MMX and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Uber Freight isn't like that. If you have personal experience to report then do it.SteveScott and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Convoy just upped their game to increase market share. They contract with a number of big shippers around the country, and I use one of them almost weekly. They're trying a new program where if a load cancels they won't pay you TONU, they will pay you for the entire load. That's a huge benefit for some of these places that frequently cancel a load without any advance notice. The one I use weekly has cancelled 3 loads on me in the last 4 months. I got TONU and found replacement loads, but if I got paid for the load anyway AND found another load, it would be a good week.

I just got that email too. Could be a very good thing but I wonder if there's a catch. Trust no one.KB3MMX Thanks this.

This is called Load Cancel Protection, it is a time limited program until August 31st and used on a selected loads. Depending on the "cancellation priority", it is either 100% of the full rate if occurring 4 hours of the start of the pick up or 50% if occurring between 4 -24 hours of the pick up appointment. The catch is that your booked and then cancelled load will not qualify for the full payment unless you accepted the offered price without biding.
Convoy comes up with these various incentive programs every month, but so far none of them was something to get excited about. Very, very huge stick, and a mini - tiny baby carrot.Dale thompson, KB3MMX, Dino soar and 2 others Thank this.
