There is not a LAW, REGULATION, or RULE that does not get "abused" in this "AMERICAN SOCIETY".
All I'm asking is that a provision be provided by the DOT, that allows "LAW ABIDERS" a safe/legal opportunity to find a place to park.
REALLY, I'm not asking much!
HOS Amendment?

Nothing, getting the proper rest is part of the rules. Driving and living in the truck is your job. Most companies already have rules that govern how you should act in, out, and around their truck. You should have zero expectation of privacy on the job.
What is so wrong with them monitoring you for job compliance? The company is legally responsible for your actions. Why can't they make sure you are following the rules? Do you really thing that they will have some one watch you 24/7? No, they will only use the information when something goes wrong. Airline pilots have had such a system in use for 50 years.
I have had non driving jobs that limited what I could do on my own time. Your right to do as you please is yours, but to work for some companies you have to give them up. It's your choice who you work for, you either take their term or you don't.

I'm an O/O...The government has no freakin' business other than what's in the current regs as to how I run my business.....That's why I don't drive for someone else....I'm my own boss.... or you don't get that part....

When I'm in the sleeper berth. I'm "ON-THE-JOB"? You've got to be kidding me.

Lot lizards are!
dieselbear and Markk9 Thank this. -
I get that.....................but they are and will change the rules in the future. How far in the future is anyone's guess. But once they change the rules you will have to use the recording system they tell you.
Each and every airline must have black boxes installed in all aircraft the operate commercially. Even the little one man, single engine planes must have a black box. I see no problem with the government making all CMV have a black box.
They can and will use any and all mean to make sure your are compliant with the rules.

You are still on the job......................You are still responsible for the load, you still can't have a beer. If you are in a CMV and not parked on your property then yes, you are under government rules and regs.

That's a different profession....I think....???

Why not just make a mature descision and go find a place to bunk-up ?
No need for all the legalistic whining IMO!
