I have to say that Verizon was very helpful when I brought this to their attention. Twice I had conversations with Customer Support that lasted well over an hour each time as we tried to figure out what caused all this usage. We never came up with how I managed to go over so much. But, I did find some interesting facts.

First off, you can visit a website, and do what you do on it. BUT, here's the catch: I'm going to give you an example from my conversation with Verizon. "I visited a website (no idea which one, now), which the Tech Support person told me, showed over 100 websites were pinged. He said that it was not a factor; but what was scary was that all this is going on in the background without your knowledge."

Secondly, Verizon, or any other company for that matter, is as much in the dark as us when trying to determine what it is that causes excessive use. It's kind of like your electric bill, your bill may show huge spikes of usage on a given day, but they can't tell you what caused the spike. Was it your fridge, your space heater, what? So, to this day, I still can only make educated guess as to what it was that I did to cause my usage to double.

One of the safeguards I now employ; is to do all music/video downloads at the end of the billing cycle. If usage allows it. All in all, it's a great service, you just have to be aware of the pitfalls that can arise if you don't stay on top of your usage. Remember, I went a year and a half without paying any attention to usage without any negative consequences and then out of nowhere got blindsided---don't let it happen to you! Good luck.
