we looked at a 03 kw with a serial# MBN08168. The cat diesel power thread doesnt really tell the exact differences between mbn and my old 5ek. So what are the differences or problems. Do these have pilot injection and therefore a quiet idle, will this have less timing/more fuel for better emissions compared to my 5ek? Should it be harder on fuel or is that heresay.

Buy it, put a 6NZ ecm on it, yank the mufflers and have a field day. There isnt much difference in the 2 engines other than stronger block, thermostat housing, turbo, injectors size, etc etc etc. Its pretty much the same set up to a 5EK.

I'm running a 525hp MBN w/ fuel temp harness. Great engine.
A bit quieter than an E model, but not much. Still sound awesome straight-piped.
Pulls like a train.
If you yank the mufflers, get another person to help. Heavy SOBs. -
It's a T800 daycab with dual exhaust, so would this still have the muffler under the cab? My brother is the one interested in the truck.
C15 475, 13spd, 404 rears with lockers, wet kit, 392k miles. They're askin $50k obo, I think its priced too high. -
If it still has a muffler(s), should be underneath.
From taking a look at truckpaper, I'd say ~$8-10k too high.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 15, 2009
