Good to hear from you Ustatruck!! Glad to hear its going good and you have a good trainer!
Thought you must have been to busy to post which is a good thing! -
I think we started with about 33 people and we are down to 23 now.
Today was parallel and alley dock backing/parking. Went really good. You have to listen to the trainers when they give you instructions on the manuvers. After the first walk through with the instructor, you are doing it by yourself. They are out there but you have to learn it. I had the same group of people as yesterday and we nailed all the manuvers. It's a good feeling to do it right and not have them blowing their whistle at you. No one left today but our trainer said at the start of next week they usually have 1 or more people leave because they are overwhelmed by the truck. We will see.Last edited: Jun 13, 2009

LOL trainers are so funny. -
Yes they are but I talked to a group of students today that was testing and they said they had 3 people not show up after the first day of backing excersizes. I think some people think it's going to be easy and then they find out. Their is one of my classmates that is not doing good at any of the manuvers and I wonder about him. He was blaming the truck yesterday and my group had the same truck he was in and we had no problems. In fact, the mirrors on the truck today were better than the one yesterday.

No I was just saying how trainers act like we have the most difficult job in the world. They can be so dramatic.

The trainer I had yesterday was one of the best and pretty laid back. He didn't walk off or anything but his attitude just made me feel at ease. No yelling or screaming, just good training on how to do things. The trainer I had today was good but there was a difference. I wonder if some of them are told to try to weed peolple out with different stories and such?

Hello all, been awhile since I've been on here myself. Miles, miles, give me more miles. hehehehe
Couple of points I would like to bring up from catching up on reading. For those of you worried about tests. They have sample CDL tests on line that you can find and take.
DMs. Everybody talks about them and how they can make or break you and yes that is true but....don't forget those load planners, they can screw you also. Case in point. Got woke up the other morning about 0300 by the boss of the night dispatchers. Said he took me off the load I was on cause he had a "hot" one that needed taken care of. Went from an 1100 mile run to a 650. No problem. "hiot" loaded, needed done. I'm your man.
Got it picked up yesterday morning by 0703 and turned in an ETA for 1000 this morning. Some idiot of a planner added 24 hrs to that and made it tomorrow at 0900. I hate sitting under a load since this company won't pay you for it. Thank goodness for getting phone #'s and rcvrs who have no pronlem with taking you early. Dropped the load today. Now if I could onlt get a valid pick up # for the load I'm supposed to get now!!!!!!!!!! Have been trying since 1330. Ahhhh, the life of a driver. -
Probably not, its just their different personalities. If you just stay calm and relax a little you will do fine, just watch for yourself while you are driving what happens when you do certain things and before long you will know what to do and what not to do. And that is the trick. Listen to them but watch what YOU do.
bullet888 Thanks this. -
Calm and relaxed is all me. I wish it was a longer training course but hopefully I get the trainer I want and things will fall into place.
