Well why wouldnt you run out I-78 to I-81 to I-83 or even Rt.222 or other different ways maybe a bit more miles but heck of alot faster. Sometimes you gotta way the mileage and time thing, as long as it's not to many more miles but is gonna cut out a good amount of time that will win in my theory. I did read your post just like many on these topics and wonder why you guys have problems with so many companies......Then I realize common sense prevails and alot of people lack that.

Yeah, I could have went that way, but with only five hrs left and the time of day it was, the load still would have been late. Even if I would have run down 476 I still wouldn't have made it on time. The thing is, even at 300 miles you would have to maintain a 60 mile per hour average to make it in 5 hrs, which would be impossible making that run unless you went through at the right time. So I really don't think adding extra miles would have helped any. Common sense will tell you that one. State the obvious truth and you get accused of not having common sense. Gotta love the world we live in today.

I guess it's what u make of it.Just an fyi I'd say 98 percent of the time if your a company driver it's forced dispatch. To refuse does mean a lot of hassle for you.I had a great time at smith transport.

smith runs a lot on the east coast, and they expect you to pay the toll cost? that could turn into $100.00 + a day you would be working just to pay the toll bill.

a driver with a years driving, what is the starting pay?

I never once had to pay the tolls while I was driving for them. And seeing how they run the New England area a lot, it would be more than 100 a day.

Thanks bigA I was thinking about Smith Systems Transportation in Scottsbluff NE. They sound much the same! THey hired him with all the paperwork and drug test. The day he was to leave, they changed their mind.

I find it hard to believe that you were a driver for smith transportation and have nothing but good things to say. I worked there as well and can say it is a very poor company to drive for. low pay, think i was getting like .35 cmp. Short runs on the east coast with few drop&hooks. The equipment is not the best on the road. You will get something with over half a million miles on it and run that till they get tired of fixing it all the time. Oh and the room you get while its in the shop is a little room in the terminal with a bed in it and no bathroom. No motel room if your stuck there for a couple days.

If your looking for a good job dont go to smith. Read the post on good trucking companies to work for, Not bad trucking companies to work for!
