Mine sits from Dec - May every year and I do not do anything except give it a good grease job before storage and fresh oil when it comes out. I would also like to know if there is maybe something else I should do to prep it.

You need to have some way to keep your batteries hot..maybe a battery tender...grease on the terminals... mke sure you top the water off in em...your coolant needs to be right...maybe some diesel treatment for the fuel...it would be best to start it every week or so to keep your seals lubricated & release the brakes so they dont rust to your drums...its hard on one to just sit imho

what I do so far is,
    -keep tire pressure at 100psi
    -add Kathon to diesel fuel
    -lube all fittings before storage
-I added the cat coolant "stuff" to radiator and checked with test strip
    -ant traps in cab

    anything else

if its going to be sitting outside u may want to cover tires up so the don't try rot. it would be best to move it every so oftenand park it facing a different direction so the sun ain't beating down on the same spot. sitting still for long peroids is hard on seals. cover up intake in air cleaner and exhuast pipe so birds and mice don't get in thier. use a battery tender on batteries and make sure the tops are cleaned off (dirt will cause them to discharge) and termanals are coated in grease or protectant. grease truck very good.

I have a rain cap on the exhaust, flap type.

On the fuel storage, can I add different types of additives in the same tank?

I also installed a new filter Davco type, I never paid attention before when shop changed it that the truck will run with no fuel in the bowl, there is a faint trickle at the bottom. I checked the O rings and they are good.

    thanks for the feed back

You'll want something for mice: mothballs, traps, poison, etc. I throw a little Marvel mystery oil in the fuel tanks and crankcase, then run her for a while to prevent rusting. Be careful though, MMO is red and it makes it look like you've got #2 home heating oil in your tanks- BIG fine. Start up and run to normal operating temp at least once a month. Roll it back and forth to keep wheel seals and bearings oiled- same schedule as running. Drain and replace all fluids before taking out of storage. Wash, wax, and polish before going in and after taking out to protect paint/chrome. (My truck is a show toy though)

Is adding some MM oil to a 3406e ok? I use in my race motors to help with the loss of zinc in newer engine oils.
Definetly not in the fuel tank, even if I did show the "man" the bottle of MM he would probably insert the bottle in my tail pipe,,lol

I added it to my Cummins 290 Big Cam, seems to be fine. This is a mechanical engine in a 1952 Mack though. The truck doesn't leave the garage with MM oil in the fuel tanks, and the law isn't in my garage without a warrant. Rather, that's the plan as of now, lol.
