1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

any suggestions?

    any opinion/advice appreciated..

i went thru schneider last august -got my cdl and drove the walmart dedicated for 2 months. was loving it, making decent pay and then 1 day they started telling me they needed me to run 18 -20 hours a day :biggrin_2551:
i refused -more so because i was exhausted and less because of the legality -but that too was on my mind. after about 4 days of fighting dispatch they gave me the choice - get with the program or get out. i quit. - so i have 2 months exp. i have no points on my license, everything is clean. and even tho i haven't driven in 8 months i feel confident in my skills.

i want to start driving again. it looks like i'll be considered a student by most companies standards/rules. I dont particularly want to spend 6 weeks with a driver trainer if i don't have to. (not saying 'some' time with a driver trainer wouldnt be beneficial)

** so now that you know the history .. any recommendations on who to go with? anybody know anything about McLeod Express?

    Thank you!

I've seen a couple threads on here about them but can't find them. I'm sure one of the mods can link them for you.

I pass Mcleod's terminal out there on I-72 all the time and I know there billboard says 6 months OTR but I'm pretty sure they take trainees also so i woupld guess you would have to do the trainee thing for a while with them as well. I think anybody you go with your gonna have to get a full training session of 6 weeks or so.

Just a heads up you will be considered a student by all companies trucking and insurance until you have one year of actual driving time. And with any OTR company you will have to go out with a trainer has if you just came out of CDL school. With local companies its hard to say what if any training time you would have to put it. But keep in mind that most local jobs require a minimal of one year OTR.
