I've done it before. In my companies yard that had some bad craters in it. Turning around behind the building and hit the pothole just right. Popped the tire and bent the rim. I was doing less than 5mph at the time, likely closer to 2 as the aforementioned pot holes made going faster impossible.

Well nine years driving why not say that in the first place?
Perhaps your tire was low on air to bend the rim. I have no clue.PE_T, mhyn and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
If the pothole was as deep as you make it out... The edge of the pothole MAY have come against the side of the RIM, bending it... Then blowing the tire. Without seeing the rim though it is hard to say. Got pictures?
PE_T, mhyn, FlaSwampRat and 1 other person Thank this. -
The pothole in question was made by many other Trucks, turning. Now it’s so bad it blows tires and bends rims. Oh well it happens, I backed into a curb, more like a short wall, once, didn’t see it at all. The company I leased to charged me for 2 rims and tires. That hurt, Lol. A few yrs back, I was leaving CH Robinson yard in Memphis, someone thought it was a good idea to put a boulder for everyone to hit. Blew my tire, bent the rim, Lol. Went to Loves, borrowed sledge hammer, Fixed it, aired it up!! Whew!!! Decided to keep steel wheels, aluminum, I’d be out of luck.

dude, its all ok.
I am driving my prius one day, pulled out to the center lane on a busy road and wasn't going more than 15 and BOOM!!! I hit a pot hole that was painted over, it took out my tire and rim, cost me $300 to get it fixed (ever try to find a new prius rim?). So the reason I asked was just wondering how fast so I can tell my driver who never believed I wasted a rim on a 3200 lb car at 15 mph it does happen.PE_T and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
LOL, I never tried to find a prius, much less a rim. lol
I am thinking bending a rim, may be easier ito get all the stars line up right on a truck, going very slow compared to much speed, where it will bounce.
I have fell through an ice bridge and the sharp ice will slice and dice a tire, so far have not hurt a rim.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -

OP, what's making some of these old hands doubt your story is that although I suppose its technically possible to damage your rim on a very low speed pothole it is not at all normal. They suspect there is more to your story, or you haven't realised what you may have done differently to avoid it in the future.
When you talk to your company they may well share the views of the doubting Thomas's on here, and feel you must have been a bit more inattentive than you're admitting to maybe?
Accidents happen to all of us, I'm sure they just want to help you learn from this.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
If you have been driving for nine years, this is not something that should upset you. Forget it. Get back to work !
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Without knowing your company, your record, your safety person etc... it would be hard for us to guess what their reaction would be. Don’t sweat it till ya have too...
FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
