Centramatics

    Well thanks for all the responses guys, I just had them put on over the weekend, and wow.. truck rides way better. We overhauled the front end over the winter so I know it's tight so that shouldn't be a problem. Went ahead and had the michelins balanced first (they did it for free anyways since I was buying a set of steers) and then had the centramatics put on as well. The yokahomas I pulled off weren't all that bad, just cupped out a little from a bad shock before the overhaul. anyhow, thanks again!

    The whole thing wiht the centrimatics makes me laugh. My grandpa used to put seven new golf balls in each tire on his dump trucks. This was years ago. Imagine a dump truck that would ride as smooth as todays trucks with centramatics. Now, I don't know how well they would work (the golf balls might beat up the insides of an aluminum wheel as opposed to the steel he used) in an aluminum wheel, or if they would last the life of an otr tire. But, they worked great on those old dump trucks which usually got new tires about every 30k miles. That's a VERY rough guess, by the way. People used to laugh at him when they saw him throw those in the tire. Most people, including myself, thought those things sat in the bottom of the tire, rolling the whole time. Lo, and behold. Centramatics is the same concept. My grandpa coulda been a rich man.

    Yeah. Some of our KW t800's chew up the inside edge of the stock steers. So the replace the rubber and new shocks and centramatics. fixes the problem. no alignment needed.

    I have had them on my truck since I bought it. I take it a step further in that I make sure and rotate and rebalance the steers every 30,000 and do the drives at about 70,000 - 80,000. Probably not totally necessary to do the drives, but steers are a bigger deal since they get worked harder per tire than a drive tire. Getting very excellent wear. I have almost 100,000 on my steers (Bridgestone R280) and they look to be at around 50-60%. The drives (Bridgestone M720) have the same mileage and look almost new. Michelins may do a little better, but I got the Bridgestones at a real good price and couldn't pass it by.
