Got our load delivered on time this morning. After losing half a day due to slow loading, three hours from a blowout, and pulling the rolling hills of West Virginia & Tennessee, we made it exactly on time. I was thinking no way we'll make when we go the load, It seems daunting, the amount of miles to the next stop, doing the math in my head and wondering if it can be done. It felt good to get it done on time and overcome the hurdles thrown at us on the road. Grateful for the experiences.

Worked with one of the local drivers the last couple days, very informative and a good learning experience. Local drivers handle more loads obviously so it's a good way to get familiar with the paperwork at a faster pace. Lots of runs into the Shell plant and the local tank washes. My regular trainer comes back from days off Monday & we'll be taking a load to West Virginia so that will be some good miles. Should be finishing up my training within the next couple of weeks. I'm enjoying a relaxing evening in a nice hotel and looking forward to a day off Sunday to reset the clock. Looking forward to the next load!

Went to load today & the Dow plant refused our trailer for the 3rd time. It’s literally a white glove inspection of the tank. Also, if the product hauled in the tank previously is incompatible with the product we’re supposed to load, yep you guessed it, rejected. It doesn’t matter how good the tank has been washed. So, back in the hotel again tonight and will load tomorrow at Shell with this load going up to Kentucky. On a different note, have you ever gone backwards through a stop sign in a truck pulling a tank? Me neither, until today lol! I Missed a turn and ended up on a street with no way out for the truck so ended up backing a whole block through an intersection. Good experience for sure & every thing like this that happens, I learn from it so I’m grateful for that. Just glad traffic was very light and there weren’t cars parked all over the street.

Happens to all of us. And when I have had to call the police to stop traffic so I could back out across several lanes of traffic, I had no problem calling.

Wow, I could see how a chemical supplier like Dow would be really particular about cross contamination but isn't that something dispatch could help mitigate? Seems like you're getting paid for sitting quite a bit? Which, hey no worries for you, easy money! But it seems like that's a cost the company would want to keep to a minimum?! I'm sure they'd rather keep you rolling on revenue generating deliveries!

At any rate, thanks for keeping up w/ the updates. I'm really appreciating the look at what life is like on the road w/ Superior from you and @patsy!

Freight is a little slow down here at the moment & dispatch is doing their best to keep us rolling. I’d rather be driving instead of sitting in a hotel for sure but some things are just out of our control. Dow is tough man! I was talking to other drivers waiting in the drivers lounge & they said about 1 out of 4 trucks makes it in to get loaded. I figure they sell products that you can’t get anywhere else so they call the shots, just my thoughts on the matter. I learn something from every experience regardless if we get the load or not so it’s all good.

Yeah Dow can be a little difficult sometimes most of the time I’m picking up a preloaded trailer~since we’re the primary carrier for Dow up near Philadelphia
