FUEL THEFT, IS THERE A BETTER LOCKING FUEL CAP?

    Found out this morning thieves came and took over 200 gallons diesel out of my Cascadia over the weekend. I had locking gas cap on both tank but the locks are so cheesy a channel lock can twist the cap off. Is there a better locking cap out there? 20190812_174752.jpg

    I think all anti theft devices would just slow them down. If your truck was parked somewhere and they had time to empty you out Its probably time to switch it up.

    There is an insert that you can put in the filler neck that would prevent siphoning. The risk is a hole in the tank. I lived through the gas shortages of the 70’s. It got ugly.

    If they WANT your fuel, adding locking caps or anti-siphon mechanisms will only slow them down and inevitably cost you more money. You make it so they can't get to it through the filler cap and they'll start cutting fuel lines or popping holes in the side of your tanks. Move the truck to a safer location.

    Park in your yard and get really big dog.
    I don't mean 70 lbs either...170 lbs...they don't have to be at all mean, trust me when i say even a very gentle dog if its 170 lbs scares the piss out of people.

    Security cameras on truck that are motion sensitive. Easy to hide the very small ones. At least may get a tag number or photo of the thief.
