Please be sure you have your facts straight before demanding others do.

EZPass is free to company drivers (I do not know about the lease drivers). EZPass covers certain tolls (but not all). Marten does charge $50.00 for unauthorized tolls using EZPass (per incident) to discourage abuse. I just confirmed this with Permits. I also confirmed that Marten does not get involved in any way with PrePass (nor NorPass and Oregon Green Light). This has been the policy since I started with Marten in 2006.

The ezpass is no charge for the o/o as well. And you can get prepass if you like if you are a company or o/o,but you will have to fill out the paperwork and they use marten's info. Then you can have the bill sent to you or have prepass deduct it from a debit account or charge a credit card monthly.
When I had my truck on here before you could get the prepas at the yards and they would take it out of your settelment but for some reason things have changed and you have to do all the paperwork now in order to get it.

Sad you have to pay out your own pocket. Our company isn't even otr and we have them in all trucks.

I was wrong about ezpass, was thinking prepass. You can get prepass if you are a Martlin driver, I saw one last week in the Sterling yard. Marten will give you the paperwork you need to apply but it's up to you to apply and pay for it.

Things changed because drivers were stealing the transponders, though God knows why. It just takes a couple of bad drivers to screw things up for the rest of us at Marten.

I tried to get a PrePass transponder from the shop once, but they said they are supposed to be returned when the truck comes out of service (it either was out of an OO or trade truck I guess). I later decided it doesn't make much sense for me to have one anyway, since I mostly either run real heavy or have a HazMat load.

I still recommend Oregon's transponder, since their's works with anyone's system, unlike PrePass, which only works with PrePass (not Oregon or NorPass). As long as you go into Oregon at least monthly, the transponder is free (you still have to pay for PrePass if nyou want that to work though).

I'm a solo, but from everything I've seen and the teams I've talked to, the company teams do quite well at Marten. The only complaint I hear from them is when the truck or loaded trailer needs service or repairs, both have to get out, and then dispatch wants you ready and rested as soon as service/repairs are completed. If the truck/trailer is in the shop for more than a couple of hours, I can see where that would be a huge issue.

From what I'm told, teams are getting about 5600-6200 miles a week right now. They also seem to get home fairly regular and on time more often than solo's do, and tend to deal with better freight and customers. There are also more dedicated runs for teams, but that would depend on where you live if you can get on those. I do a lot of swaps with teams around the various holidays (to get either me or them home), and they all seem pretty happy.

Just got the skinny on pre pass from my friend who has one. You have to call pre pass, tell them you work for Marten, fax in the registration for your truck and it cost $9 and change per month. That's it. Hope this helps and answers everyones questions.

    CA_Medicine_Woman Thanks this.

Orientation there? hmmm thats a new one on me. They normly send people to our terminal in Atlanta (forrest park)
