You wouldn't have learnt to do multiple stops and how to manage your time on longer runs and sounds like #2 was using students for miles!
Which totally sucks and you will be running 48 states and you need to train with a trainer that runs 48 states and not a semi dedicated guy.[/quote]
Good pointJESS, seems like an obvious requierment if a student is going to be challenged and exposed to a variety of conditions. I've thought about holding off on the dual training part until winter, just to have the benifit of an experienced mentor to help get through the more demanding situations. When I was living in Utah, I can recall times pulling a 14ft trailer behind my work truck going up Parley's Canyon to Park City. Hard for someone like me to imagine doing that in a big rig pulling a 53ft trailer.
For what it's worth: both CNN and MSNBC are reporting that Michael Jackson has died from cardiac arrest. Fox is only saying that he is in a coma. -
Bullett,
Spot on about what you regarding the right to work and doctor thing. While at my first job, a friend got hurt and he wanted to see his family doctor. His manager gave him two options: See our doctor or see your doctor and get fired. Someone correct me but if you see your doctor, you aren't covered on their workmans comp and you could get fired as you aren't covered under workmans comp. -
I do believe you are right King. When I got my right index finger partially amputated in an industrial accident, I went to their doctor. After the surgery was done to graph(?) some skin to my finger, I could go to see my doctor. I didn't have a choice in the matter.
I guess you guys are right about learning multiple stops. I do have to learn it. I do want a dedicated run in a while though. That's what I did before and I really liked it. Time will tell. The Challenger Thanks this. -
Panhandle Flash - Thank you!!!!! I will do some research - would have never of thought of that on my own.
I really like this tread and everyone on it. Even if Central does not hire me, I will still come around to visit!! You all have been a big help.
Does Central have a referral bonus. If so, I have not applied yet so I would be happy to mention a name if you want me too. Probably won't apply for another 3-4 weeks.
Thanks again! You guys are great! -

So any trainers on here going to be looking to pick up a new trainee in about 3 weeks? I think i remember hearing a few saying you can request a trainer.
-
Yeah you can request a trainer but it is up to the training department ultimately.
Bullet requested JJ but the training department decided that someone else would train Bullet.
6Pak will be free in a few weeks but I am not sure if he is going to take on another student or have a break for a couple of weeks.......I just picked 6Pak up from Walmart and we went and had coffee, then took him back to the truck so he could get his load onto Clackamas OR. -
Yes you should be good. Last time i drove was in aug of 01. -
As most of you know i am back out on the big road. also by now you all know i also didn't get bullet as a student. It has been an interesting load to say the least. It was a tight pick up i made it to the shipper with 10 min to spare on Tue, hit the road and by Wyoming i had a crack in the new windshield only two months old. Guess i will be shelling out another 200 bucks. i did manage to make Rawlins, wy with 20 min left on my clock. on Wed i was trying to make Gretna, Ne when the tread on the trailer tire came apart taking the right mud flap with it and bending the mud flap hanger in the process. I did manage to make it to Gretna with an hour left on the clock. Today i had a quick stop in Walcott at the C.B. shop to get my radio right. I picked up a new set of frances's 3' antennas and the radio checked out OK. i do need to get the new outback antenna mount and 30 feet of coax cable so i can use the browning penetrator and really get out with my c.b. I did have a look at a striker 440 and it looks like the new C.B. i will plan to get in the future as for now my cobra 29 is still working good. I made it to my delivery location with 2 hrs to spare and now just sitting here waiting until my appt time at 3 AM. hope all has been well for everyone on the thread. JJRanch
