I do the 2 inchers the same way, putting the rolled up tail through the split. I really dislike the 2 inch winches without that split.

Bullcrap, if you leave enough slack above the crease that you stick in and the winch makes at least a full revolution it will tighten up and never come loose. You’ve tried saying this was illegal before, just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it wrong.
-
Im not the only one who believes that short strapping is a ticket if caught. However i have not made that claim here.
Said it before.
Do whatever you want.
I find it lazy securment. How many shortcuts do we all agree are stupid? Dozens. This is one you think is smart, i think its stupid. Thats it. -
Who cares what you and someone else “believes”? It’s not illegal, you’ve never been able to show where it is and I’m 100% confident that a DOT cop can’t either.
I didn’t say it was smart and I have no reason to do it but if the strap wraps clear around the spool it can’t come loose, it’s no different than when you barely have enough strap to pass through and make a full turn to lock itself, haven’t you ever experienced that? -
Uhh.. its a forum. Kinda the point of us being here. After all, you clearly decided your position was worth mouthing off about. *just saying.
Why must I repeat myself ? I didn't make that claim here.
A pass through, even a small one has 2 count them 2, points where the strap changes direction at a 90 degree or better angle, then; then has wrap after wrap biting both angles. A short strap has 1, and the sheer act of cranking the spool can (think about it) pull the tuck out. The lock lever at that point has nothing to do with the strap staying tight. It is PURE friction only. I will not trust my life or load on friction alone if i have the choice.
Will it? If done right probably not. But given the choice?
I wouldn't risk it and use a ridiculous "to much effort" excuse.
If someone gets hurt, and there excuse is "i always did it that way because it was easier."
You gonna tell me you would be ok with that?
(I don't rightfully care is that sounds like hyperbole, this is just a forum.) -
I understand the point of a forum, however you and another person agreeing that something is a ticket if caught doesn’t make it law.
You most certainly did when you said that short strapping was a ticket if caught, how can it be a ticket if it’s not illegal? You also at one time called it a “no no”, what does that mean?
If the strap wraps around the spool a couple times you will pull the strap in two before you pull it off the spool. There’s nothing dangerous, lazy or illegal about it. Honestly I thought it was more work than jus poking the strap through both slots and winding it up.
Oh I think you care a lot about what you sound like.shogun and LoneCowboy Thank this. -
"I believe" were my words. Not it is.
Based on personal opinion.
Your opinion.
Read my quote. -
Sure thing, let’s call it opinion then instead of trying to tell people they’ll get a tick then.
-
I did. Every #### time.

Eluding to getting a ticket for it doesn’t jive with your statement.Lepton1 Thanks this.
