It is for some of us. Just another reason to not live beyond ones means, no matter how big ones pockets are. I doubt they are going anywhere soon and the changes they want could have a positive effect on some people. Most others not so much.Last edited: Aug 20, 2019

To me the proposal seems like a loser no matter which way it goes. If it passes and the company gets bought out, it stays afloat but CSPF takes a major hit, one it can’t afford. If it doesn’t pass the company goes tits up.

The pension is dead no matter how much or how little is put in each month. When I first started in the Central States Pension fund in the mid 80’s there were hundreds of thousands more Teamsters actively working and contributing to the fund than there are now. Now there is a disproportionate number of retires to active participants. The math does not work. The best thing for current employees is for it to fail sooner than later and to move on to something different like a 401k. Those who are currently retired will take a hit as will those of us who have pensions coming from Central States. Fortunately all my eggs are not in one basket.
Cooper probably will live on being controlled by the hedge fund who owns most of their debt. That is the plan now with their employees pension contribution taking a big financial hit and funding future equipment purchases with some of that money. I don’t mind paying for a car carrier when I own it, but not just to drive it.Last edited: Aug 20, 2019
