There may be people who are entitled. There is a population of people that just want to do the necessities without having to worry. How much do you think the average job pays?

I think it's worse than that. The average jobs. Nothing pays enough to provide you room to thrive in life if you are not somehow a GS 10 or above in the federal pay schedule. Anything below is just scratching to get by eating a cup of ramen instead of a full breakfast. Might as well eat out at a hardees for the retail cost of a full breakfast.

Trucking does provide for mountains of money, some months we had so much that more paychecks were not really needed, just tossed in the bank until we could decide how to use it. There is joy in that kind of a problem. 15 year house loan, paid in 5 and some months, and all other debts paid and paid. Gasoline was identified as a 1000 dollar month expense commuting two cars 50+ miles one way to work that did not pay that much to cover it. Eliminate the cost of gasoline and work local, even if you can ride a bike to it.

That was what we did. When we stopped trucking we made the mistake of going to college. 46000 spent. Totally worthless degree of 4 years to spouse and a wasted push for a 2 year on my part. The State was bringing in overseas worker students on a visa to do my intern work and go back home and teach others. There is no country for me.

Paid off the student loans. By selling the home and lands. POOF. We are tenants now. Whoopie and yehaw. big deal.

Ex and I has been working or plotting rather to see what we can do until we both reach 62. For her and VA she will double dip (Her VA will stop and become little 90 dollar checks at around 64) and for me I gain a few more hundred per month plus any COLA increases till 62. Trucking is a real possibility. But medical surgeries are a doozie when I examine the tens of thousands that has gone out as paid by Medicare.

In the old days instead of throwing that kind of money to fix stuff, people committed suicide when their economic situation does not allow them to be able to eat. Or feed children or buy things for the baby or whatever. They are completely and totally hollowed out economically. And so *Bang/Thump dead.

Easily replaced by 10 more coming into our Land daily. That is why we can lurch from one problem to the next as a country. That too will be sorted out in time. Not in my life time.

To be honest the last 4 weeks have been the best 4 weeks of this year. As far as im concerned. Bring in the slowdown if it means 3500 miles aweek like i been getting , bring it on. I just think its funny because the story has been how big of a trucker shortage we got and now suddenly that doesnt exist because now companies are closing and getting layed off blah blah blah , its funny the news is probably the worse place to get news

Youll know we're in a true slow down when it becomes easy to find parking at Flying J after 7pm. We are nowhere near that point.

Sounds more like The Twilight Zone. I'd be looking around for Rod Serling.

Oh man wouldnt that be something. I never undwrstood peoples love affair with pilot and flying j. U could have both of those on 1 corner and ta across the street. Ta half empty 24 hrs a day. Hook and pilot jam packed 24 hrs a day. Never understood what ppl love so much about it . but i dont question it , i like ta much better and am happy to usually find parking all hours of the night
